I had a misunderstanding with a client, he threaten to get me punished. Naturally, but I felt is an issue that can be resolved over the phone.

This afternoon I got a call from the Police Area F, Ikeja, asking to report to the station, that somebody reported me. When I asked what I was accused of, he said I should just come. I blatantly refused to go, because I know how Nigeria Police operates. He told me I cant refuse police invitation.

Note: though I knew the complainant, but I don't know whether it is valid getting police invitation by phone call.

I told the man, I will appreciate police coming to my house to arrest me, at least, I wont have to pay transport for case that is not worth 3k in value.

The background
I am a website designer and for the past 5 years, I ve hosted my client domain and he paid 10k every year for hosting and domain renewal. The last 10k was May this year. Around the middle November, the website was hacked. When he called, I told him virus was on his site and my job as his website person to remove it. I charged him 20k. He flared up, threatening to involve heaven and hell in the matter, claiming I sabotage the site in order to extort him.

"I dont know how is that an extortion, I m not the only website designer in Nigeria, you are free to give it to anybody to fix it for you" was my candid reply.

I still feel this case is a waste of my precious time. Na only 10k I collected, after paying for domain, 3k remain for hosting. I am almost hosting for free! E dey vex me. This is the reason I dont want to honour police invitation. It beat my imagination, police attends to this type of case.

Can I be arrested for not going to station?
Is phone call invitation valid enough, or I should wait for written invitation?

Ask a police man living in your area if it's advisable to honor the invitation.

Contact an attorney. Don't go to the cops alone if you value your human rights. Nigeria is a messed up country.

To top it all up ....an computer/internet matter ..trust me..u are a already a yahoo boy to the police.....u wont leave area F without droping at least illegal 100k-200k bail money

It might be a trick a friend trick me this same way .I didn't honour d invitation

Even if it's not worth a #50 candy, you must contact an attorney if you have any case especially one like this. It seems you're at loggerhead with a higher up.

This is why I always tell people to have important people in their circle of friends. Go get an attorney.
