For those of us that were old enough, Mexico 86 was a world cup that saw one of the two (yes just two) African countries progress past the group stages. Morocco, with Badou Zaki, Timoumi and Bourdebala bringing down Portugal in one of the world cup classic games, they made history and strengthened the push for more African nations in the world cup (just 3 more in over 32 years!).
Since then it's been occasional flashes of brilliant performances by Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
Did I forget any country?
Well that's why I think contrary to popular opinion, Nigeria is a flickering star that presents a bipolar performance at maturity.

We never have a problem with the U-17 , U-20 or U-23 teams, in fact I dare say their past perform might be one of the reasons FIFA made some changes to African participation quotas.
It appears once it comes to the mature level, it appears it's a different country wearing those jerseys.
