Even as 30 students of the Faculty were selected for FG Bursary Award
The Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Elom has commended the 400 level students of the Faculty of Education of the institution for their sterling performances in the 2022 Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) professional examination.


The Vice-Chancellor noted that the successful outing of the students in the teachers’ professional qualifying examination is a huge testament to the seriousness of the University’s academic activities, and praised the Dean and staff of the Faculty of Education for their hard work and work ethnics.


The University had presented 338 400 level students of the Faculty of Education for the teachers’ professional examination held on 24th November, 2022, out of which 300 of them passed with credit.

Meanwhile, 30 students of the Faculty of Education are among the students of Faculties of Education throughout the country that have been selected by the Federal Government for bursary award.


The bursary award, which is worth N150, 000 each is meant to support Nigerian students reading Education courses. It is also geared towards encouraging candidates to enroll for Education programmes in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The students were selected by the Federal Scholarship Board, Federal Ministry of Education from a pool of those that applied for the bursary award by considering their Cumulative Grade Point for the preceding academic year.
While speaking on the importance of the TRCN examination, the Acting Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Francisca Ogba noted that it is a qualifying examination for students’ teachers geared towards certifying them professionally both within and outside the country.


She explained that the students’ performance in the examination shows that both the staff and students of the faculty are performing at optimal level in teaching and learning. She also attributed the performance to the support of the University Management under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elom, whom she said has provided the enabling environment for academic activities to thrive in the University.

She said “We want to appreciate the VC for his support and for providing the enabling environment for staff and students to excel in their respective fields.”
The Dean equally thanked the Federal Government for the bursary awards to students of Faculties of Education throughout the country, noting that the largesse will go a long way to support and encourage students in the field of Education.
