The security challenges that ravaged the country this year, ranging from terrorism, secessionist activities, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, illegal firearms trafficking and proliferation, cybercrime, gender-based violence and violent electoral campaigns, posed a threat to the security order and national cohesion of the country.

With the rejigging of security architecture, acquisition of operational assets, enhanced intelligence capacity, more purposeful police-community relations framework, inter collaboration with other security agencies, the Nigeria Police Force recorded tremendous successes in tackling criminal elements and stabilizing the internal security order.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, disclosed the scorecard of the Force at the last conference with Senior Police Officers from the rank of Commissioners of Police and above on Thursday.

According to the IGP, between January to November 2022, 865 kidnap victims were rescued, 383 suspected kidnappers were arrested, and 1,125 firearms were recovered.
