NATIONAL FOOD EMERGENCY- A Call To Action
- @TRUNN

This message is for EVERY man, woman and child in Nigeria.
There's going to be a food CRISIS next year; still INCREASING prices will turn into scarcity; and even now, do we all know why?

1. THE DESTRUCTION-
- Up to A MILLION Farmers were rendered homeless by the floods.
- The waters wiped out THOUSANDS of acres of planted crops.
- Hundreds of farming COMMUNITIES were submerged.
- Tens of tons of the few, stored food/grain RESERVES were damaged.
What has been government's response since October?

2. THE PROBLEMS-
As political parties go on a spending spree, prices will rise EVEN HIGHER than in the coming Yuletide celebrations.
By the time the 2023 elections take place, at least 1 million MORE Nigerians will be below the Poverty line.
By June 1, after a new government is sworn in on May 29, almost HALF the year will be gone.
There's NO forex for imports; there's NO plan to catalyze/stimulate IMMEDIATE planting; there's NO plan to deal with herdsmen/bandits who STILL destroy and kill; and there's HARDLY ANY interest by local, state or federal government in the MILLIONS of starving and begging children that we see on our streets.
Who among you expects things to improve?

Therefore, we simply CANNOT wait for an indolent incumbent or for the newly elected to find their feet, BEFORE STARTING the long and slow processes of government bureaucracy-
Which will take several MORE months (after June, remember) to yield ANY kind of national plan.
At best.

There is no time.

3. THE SOLUTION-
To reduce the very REAL possibility of a famine, EVERYONE must plant and grow; with parents and teachers first learning, and then teaching their children.
Thank God that this is EASY to do and can even be a GREAT hobby for both children and adults. How many of us recall planting seeds while growing up?

The plan is as as follows-
Each Primary School child- (2 vegetable pots)x class; 1 to 6.
Each Secondary School child- (1 legume+1 cereal pot)x class; 1 to 6.

Each Undergraduate- (1 fruit pot)x year.
Each Postgraduate/Unmarried Worker- 1 tuber+1 stem plant.

Mothers- (1 poultry bird)x family members.
Fathers- (1 mammal)x family members.
Pensioners- fish; help and support for the children.

COMMUNITIES- schools, religious houses, traditional rulers and corporate groups housing/residents' associations- should plan a SCHEDULE for which crops each school grows; provide sacks for transplanting; circulate INFORMATION on seed sources, cultivation, care, harvest and storage; and decide how to EXPAND this project into a communal garden.

Just imagine- How much food can this project produce within a year of PERENNIAL farming?!
Best of all, the weather WON'T affect our plants! Which means that whatever happens this Christmas or in the elections-
In 2023, ALL the Citizens of Nigeria are GUARANTEED adequate food supply!

4. TAKE CHARGE-
We, The People of Nigeria are the ONLY ONES who can save ourselves, from hunger, starvation and the AVOIDABLE high cost of foodstuff.
This one project should and must be the MOST IMPORTANT and most TRENDING topic of discussion for each one of us-

At work, in school, at home, in houses of worship; and even in cars, planes or buses.
After all, who DOESN'T want lower food prices?
So YOU must tell EVERYONE you know.
Share. Discuss. Organise. Take action.

And make haste.
Or the consequences will be terrible, for very many close to each one of us.
God bless
