The history of Igbein is dated back to 1829, it was basically based on the dictates of an 'Ifa Oracle which told the Egba at the time that they should leave the union of all the Yoruba then settled at 'Odo-Ona' Ibadan.

The Igbeins, just like other Egba brothers migrated from Ile- Ife that is Ife-Oodaye (ni bi ti oju gbe timo) i.e. where the day starts. Their migration was necessitated by the internal conflict, which engendered their dispersion from their original settlement. While at Ife-Oodaye, Ojoru was the Sectional Head of Igbein. The name Igbein itself came from the Ogboni conclave.

During Ogboni Procession, the order is that the most senior rank came last in any procession and Ojoru was the most senior in rank. Due to Ojoru's (Igbein's progenitor) position during Ogboni procession, the igbeins were referred to as Egba Igbeyin (those at the back). Their migration took them to many places including Old Oyo and Ibadan. However, it was from Ibadan under the leadership of Lamodi, an Igbein warrior that procession to Abeokuta began. Lamodi Oso Igbein, however handed the Egba people to Sodeke when they got to Odo-Ona, in continuation of their journey to Abeokuta.

When the Egba arrived at the Egba forest, the Igbein people settled at a place known as Odo-Igbein near Eriki village. Igbein installed their first Oba at this settlement place. The king used to be called OjoruJoba because Ojoru was the progenitor of Igbein people. Laguna was the first Oba. The word "Ojoru Joba' means the descendant of the progenitor now became a king. Since then, all kings of Igbein are known as Omo Ojoru Joba' (i.e. son of Ojoru became a king). Any male Igbein indigene was referred to as Oso' while any female indigene was also referred to as 'Ewusu' and they were all referred to as Omo Ojorus' (the descendants of Ojorus). Later the Igbein people moved from Odo-Igbein to another settlement place known as Eboto near Osola village.
