Some of the most distant galaxies ever found have been discovered by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. These galaxies are so far away that they were first observed only 300 million years after the Big Bang when the universe was only 2% as old as it is now.

A worldwide group of researchers that created two of the JWST’s state-of-the-art equipment also discovered primitive galaxies. A little area of the night sky in the constellation Fornax was to be monitored by the first instrument, the Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam).
