Why is it that most countries with the best militaries in the World allow Their personnel the use of medicated or prescription glasses but most African countries and the Nigerian military don't?
You having bad eyesight or requiring glasses is an automatic disqualification for any one who intended to enlist in the military be it through NDA, DSSC,SSC or recruit, you've got to have a perfect eyesight or you're not even considered.

For the USA it depends...If the military is in peacetime drawdown mode, they may enforce stricter physical requirements on recruits than during a time when they are trying to grow the force (like during wartime). In general, if your eyesight is correctable to 20/20 or thereabout they will take you.

There are some jobs you will not be qualified for (pilot, diver, some SoF positions, etc). Also, if you have had certain eye surgeries, that also may disqualify you.

Not sure about Nigeria.. it should be the same process or almost... The main determinant here should be your job in the army.. if or not it requires a sharp eyesight..

Precolonial mentality added with an elite who have staunchly refused to think forward. I had a friend who's life ambition was to join the police but it didn't work out because she had a tattoo and so the police force lost such a brilliant asset

They should stick to such requirement if it's still in place, you need to see where those guys are wasting their bullet shooting blanks like it's normal and it's evident when you consider the number of collateral damages they do incure during fire fights.

Advanced countries only want to know if you can kill.

Nigeria and other African country want to judge you to disqualify you...unless you have connections.

There are height and weight and aptitude requirements though .

This is a tricky question tho.
On the long,I think American army knows they've got medical personnel that can't correct whatever default you have within their ranks

Nigerian army can't give you the same assurances,so it's better to stay off you, than coming out tomorrow to shout neglectoin and abandonment from the government
