An American actress has been attacked and injured by a seal at the popular Clifton beach in Cape Town, South Africa.

Loulou Taylor, said the attack happened on Tuesday.

Loulou is best known for her roles in the movie – Good Life and the series –Raised by Wolves. She plays the role of Cassia, who is a recurring character in the television series.

Loulou said she fell in love with Cape Town while filming Raised By Wolves and has been living here since.

“I was the woman attacked by the seal at Clifton 4th (beach) while swimming yesterday. I ended up at the ER with several bad puncture wounds requiring antibiotics and observation. Grateful to the men who helped me in the water!”

She added that she swims at this specific beach daily.

“The attack happened around noon. I swim at Clifton often, nearly daily. I was enjoying the water when I heard people on the shore shouting and whistling. There were many swimmers in the water when I went in, and then suddenly, I noticed I was alone.

Loulou said she thought they were warning me of a rip tide, so she started swimming parallel to the shore.

“They continued shouting at me and then I saw a very fast dark shape coming straight for me, and I felt it bite me! I initially thought it was a small shark, and I started screaming and trying to swim away but also defend myself because it was repeatedly biting me. I felt it bite both hands, my right hand, at least twice, and it continued to attack me violently when I was pulled from the water and rescued by those men.”

The attack was caught on camera

The video starts with a seal swimming in the shallow waters with a woman saying: “Aaaah cute a seal.” Seconds later, the seal’s attention is on something /someone outside the camera frame.

It attacks a young child who is swimming. The seal can be seen trying to bite the child in the video.

Several people rush in to rescue the child. The lifeguard is heard blowing his whistle at the swimmers still in the water. Most of the swimmers are seen making their way back to the beach.

The seal is then seen swimming underwater in the direction of a young woman- now identified as Loulou Taylor, still swimming. It appears the seal attacks her and tries to bite her. More people rush in and assist the woman carried out of the water.

The video ends with a man grabbing the seal and throwing it back in the water.
