Our old mother's of the 60s,70, and 80s were not the lazy fashionable loving persons whom pregnancy humbled .They still went to farms and still did exercises unlike our New generation pampered and air conditioning women who only know about fashion and style .
That is why as soon as they get pregnant they cannot do things they are not or have not been trained to do.
They turn lazy and start getting bloated apart from the normal hormone changes
These women don't know how to go about and how to do things they just sit down and become over bloated
As for me ,my take is this ,pregnant women should exercise in the first 5 months and not sit down in one place and be complaining of aches and pains

But a man can be excused for growing the stomach of a hippopotamus when he doesn't birth anything? What exactly is his excuse for not having a flat, toned set of abs and impressive forearms? Women have an excuse, but what excuse is there for men? Men have testosterone, men don't give birth, so why?

As a man, how many of you and your brothers don't have flabby/ big stomachs? Do you honestly make any effort for your wives? Or you think you're entitled to carrying luggage in front of yourselves without using it for anything? Men have no reason not to all have six packs. Except they are lazy. Y'all should cut the argument.

I initiated this simply on health and aesthetic grounds.

A man with a pot belly bears a lot of discomfort at different times, in everyday of his life including his service to his wife. It is still indiscipline in choice and quantity of foods, drinking habit and improper exercises.
He risks a lot of health issues too from obesity, heart attack, hypertension, diabetes and confidence.

Not everything should boil down to comparison, whatever it is here is for the benefit of the woman during pregnancy, for the new mother, the unborn child and the entire family. True, the physiology and hormonal balance changes a lot during pregnancy, the urge of eating is eating unhealthily requires discipline and conscious efforts. Again, women often care about how they look whereas men careless, hence you see them baring their potbellies even in public, joke about it and really don't care despite the health risks and wife's complaints.
