1) You have a skill that can be performed remotely Example: Writers, developers, other tech professionals like consultants, creatives like Designers etc

2)You are looking to transition into tech and want to have access to platforms that you can learn, get paid and grow your tech career.

You're not only going to get access to these remote-friendly companies but you'll learn what you need to do to get in and even have them apply to you instead of you applying to them.

Here's my story and why I am letting people know about this:

I went through a lot trying to get remote work that could afford me to leave Nigeria for good.

There was a time I sent my resume to a startup that operated remotely, 3 days later I got a response from the recruiting officer about scheduling for an interview.

I have never felt so excited in life like I had on this day. So out of curiosity, I check the email address and the signature of the email that was sent to me so I can connect with her on LinkedIn & Twitter.

Sent connection request, she accepted. And life went on as I was preparing and waiting for the scheduled date of the interview.

A day to the interview, I received an email from her again, thinking it was for the interview details. Opened it only to find out the interview will not hold anymore.

There was no reason whatever given. Everything was going well so what happened?

It turned out that the lady viewed my profile the same day she sent that email. Could it be cos of my profile isn't worthy enough?

Then few weeks later, I saw another remote opportunity in the UK and this time around the person who posted it was already connected with me and I had even engaged with her page severally. So I sent her a DM and she was like "oh that's good but your Time zone is different"[/i] (a nice way to tell me I live in Nigeria )

Nigeria and Uk use the same timezone most of the year and when it's different its just 1hr apart. At the time I told her we were the same time zone and she was like "oh really. okay I'll let you know if the position is still open by this evening"

She didn't even bother asking for my resume and yes she didn't get back to me.

To confirm my suspicion about getting rejected cos I'm a Nigerian, she posted another opportunity few weeks after and when I reached out to her she was like she is sure if the position was still open and this is just few mins after she had posted it oh.

I shared my concerns to the lady that got me into tech. Told her Nigerian companies do not value skills that helps transform businesses and she agreed with me and for a very long time she was sharing some tips with me that has helped grow not just my career but also my income

She reached out to me last year that she'll compiling a list of remote-friendly companies and how anyone can get into these companies.
