I was told to have a child to secure my crashing marriage after I married as a virgin’ – Chigul makes shocking revelation

Nigerian media personality, Chioma Omeruah better known as Chigul has opened up about the series of advice she received from people when she was married. Chigul, revealed the advice while reacting to Basketmouth’s estranged wife Elsie Okpocha ‘s post on women, marriage, and kids.

Elsie, a mother of three had taken to her Instagram page to caution people against shaming unmarried women. She noted how ladies and women get shamed for late marriages and late childbirth. Reacting to Elsie’s post, Chigul wrote:

Someone told me, just born one hold am. I was like are we playing cards? Hold am kwa? Hiaaaan! Nigerians are too forward.

Glamsquad notes that Chigul was once married and the union crashed after just one year and she held herself responsible. On Kemi Adetiba’s King Women series, Chigul said:
“We were not perfect, there were good days I won’t lie. It just got to a place where we both didn’t care anymore. I have been made to believe that it was my job to keep that afloat and the fact that it sank, I take on my head. I didn’t understand why no one except my siblings cared to ask how I was doing. I was depressed and I didn’t care. I wasn’t going to kill myself but the sweet, funny girl didn’t want to come out. I felt like I was going through a tough time with my marriage and everyone was saying go back to your husband and no one asked how I was feeling.

I had nowhere to land, it fell apart and I didn’t want it to. When I needed people to be there for me, no one was there. The worse was when I heard that my husband had a child with someone else, a year into our separation.

The worse thing for me right now is not being in a relationship but I wanted to give my mother grandchildren. My success with my career is great, it’s wonderful. I thank God for it every day but I want other things. I did some things wrong for instance I sold the wedding rings and I told him I did. In my mind, my rings were a symbol of something that didn’t exist. It was a circle I was wearing on my finger while I had an absentee husband. It was one of the worst things I ever had to go through but one of the best things because it taught me so much.

The ‘Road to Yesterday’ actress said she was a virgin when she got married at 33 and expressed joy at not having any child from the marriage.

Would I have changed anything about it? No, because it happened for a reason. I’m happy it happened at one year with no children, no attachments. I married at 33, I married a virgin. That was my first ever anything and it was supposed to be special and last.

Chigul further told of how she was a serial failure at school. She noted that it was extremely tough on her because of the status of her father as a former military governor of Anambra state.

In academics, I wasn’t necessarily the brightest; I was kinda dull when it came to schoolwork. So form 4 came and we did final exams and I failed so I had to repeat a class. When I got to Lagos, I told my dad that I was going to repeat Form 4. The next thing I knew, I was in Airforce secondary school in Lagos he said there was no way I was going to go back to Jos and embarrass him how can Samson Emeka Omeruah’s daughter be repeating a class?

I was never into school. I took the Cambridge exam, JAMB, WAEC and I didn’t pass too well. I was failing woefully. When I took TOEFL and SAT, I did okay and I got into Delaware University.

This lady doesn't know that she just proved one of my theories right.
The theory is that the later a woman waits to have sex, the more difficult it would be for her to have children later.
Marrying at 33 as a virgin is asking for trouble (as far as having children is concerned). She spent a whole year in marriage and never conceived.
Most women without issues conceive within 6 months of marriage.
Still waiting to be proven wrong on this theory.
Not saying that females should engage in under-age sex. Rather saying that women should MARRY AS SOON AS THEY CAN so they can start having sex, hence increasing their fertility (conception chance) early enough.
Don't take my words for it, just do your own research. Look around you. Which women are having children easily, and which women are struggling.
She should have at least had a baby with her last husband before considering divorce.
She may wake up years later still struggling to have a child.
Well...

Your response shows that you did not understand my submission, and yet you've already started insulting me.

Also, in your world every woman is fertile congenitally? There are no women born infertile in your world? undecided

Do women who somehow damaged their reproductive system prior to marriage also conceive?

To break it down for you, the theory assumes NATURALLY fertile women. You know those people who somehow can't conceive and doctors can't tell why? I know a few of such couples, and I'm sure you do too!

And I ended by challenging readers to prove me wrong by providing counter-narratives, even if only anecdotal.

Your insult was unnecessary and unprovoked.
You should not blame me for your lack of comprehension and analytical reasoning.

I can close my eyes and count MANY cases like that...
At a point I decided to look at the opposites (i.e non-virgins who married late), and what I found shocked me to the bones.
Almost all of such women produced children effortlessly.
One of such is female cousin of mine who married at the ripe age of 40. She was not a virgin even from her secondary school days at the FGGC Benin, till she married at 40. She quickly conceived back to back; a boy at first, then a girl.
The thing is that something went wrong in the narratives about such things.
I don't want to go deeper because there are many people whose minds can't do the rigorous thinking needed to understand it, and not draw wrong conclusions, etc.
The safe messaging here from me to all women (mostly YOUNG women) is this: MARRY FIRST BEFORE YOU GO TO UNIVERSITY IF YOU CAN.
You can always finish your education AFTER having children.
In fact, if a girl married at 18-20 (Best years), she can finish having children by 25, and then go back to do her first degree.
She can even get to Ph.d by 33-35 yrs of age. She still can have a FULL career ahead of her.
This late marriage thing is a PROBLEM when it comes to a woman's fertility .

Well...
I disagree. She was in a deceptive relationship so it was a good thing she did not get pregnant for the dude who she found even already had a child she did not know off.

Chigurl has to slim down because plus-size women find it a bit difficult conceiving. Alternatively, if her eggs are still okay, she can freeze them and then when she is ready to be a mother, she can use a surrogate mother to carry her baby then pay her off to the tune of about N2 million.

Women in their 30s and 40s need not have any fears of having their own biological babies via vaginal delivery or surrogacy.

It has to do with her biological makeup and not her virginity or age.
She will be just 35 as of 2023 and there are women who are older than her, yet these women conceive easily.

Let her and the spouse go for a body detox to remove harmful heavy metals in their bodies. This will make it easier to conceive. There is a reknowned Maryland-based fertility specialist I know who does the detox and more.

Aha! She got married as a non-virgin at 40, yet got pregnant with two kids back-to-back. Women have different biological make-ups based on hormonal differences, and the presence or absence of harmful heavy metals in the body through the inhalation of toxic fumes and more.
