Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, will make his first appearance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign train of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu this week. The Secretary of the APC Campaign Council, James Abiodun Faleke, confirmed the development in a terse statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

The party chieftain disclosed this while reacting to reports that the APC has postponed its presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold in Kwara State on Tuesday, January 17.

A report had emerged earlier that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Shetima presidential campaign rally slated to hold in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Tuesday was postponed.

In a statement on behalf of the campaign’s local organizing committee, Saadu Salahu said the postponement was to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the campaign.

Naija News had reported earlier that Buhari departed the shores of Nigeria on Monday for Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, to receive a peace award.

According to a statement on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the award will be conferred on Tuesday, 17th January.


Due to the development, it was said that Buhari will miss the APC rally in Kwara.


Reports, however, emerging on Tuesday morning, refuted the claims, stating that the planned presidential rally in Ilorin will hold as scheduled.

Because of President Buhari’s presence outside the country, Osinbajo, according to the APC team, will stand in for his principal at the Tinubu-Shettima presidential rally in Ilorin.

“I hereby confirm that the APC Presidential Campaign rally slated for 17/1/23 will hold as scheduled. Please be advised accordingly,” Faleke noted.

“President Buhari asked Osinbajo to represent him as he would not be available”, a top source at the Aso Rock Villa confirmed to PM Nigeria News.

They keep bursting the wishes and cheap propaganda of the irrational opposition.

They first alluded that Buhari will not campaign for Tinubu then, PMB showed up in grand style.

They've talked about the irreconcilable Osinbajo for long but there are set for disappointment.

The same way they're telling us that no one will vote for the APC even prior to 2019 and 2023 alike, just to wake to the reality of the day.

You lots should stop spreading ill news about the VP..what should he be doing on a campaign trail when his boss the president is already present? There is no bad blood between the VP and his godfather Tinubu and even if they were it has little or no impact to Tinubu's ambition.

If not greed, why would an Osibanjo even think of contesting against his principal since you know over 8 years ago that being a president was his target..he literally took you from nowhere and made you a commissioner, from there to a VP,second most prestigious position in the world.

I am not a BAT supporter but he is a good man and wants the growth of all arounf him including foreigners(IGBOS)..he is the first governor to make an Igbo man commissioner, local government chairman in lagos state..Even an Igbo man from Anambra would not make another from Imo a part of his administration. If not tribalism why would the IGBOS hate Tinubu so much? what has he done to them at the federal level? he made lagod more habitable for them.

He made him VP? You lack common sense. This is why we are not progressive as a nation. Leave Ibos o3of this because they made lagos. Many Yorubas live in London as well. Migration is adventurous for Igbos. If APC had presented Osibanjo, we won't have many issues against Yorubas because he is very qualified as well. All these insults are because of Emilokan idea which negates the choice of the people. We need a healthy, competitive, presidential candidate. Thank you
