Definitely a hack. Locks my network to nairaland. Can't leave. Can't open any other page like Google. Only nairaland.

Nairaland was down for 24 hours 22-23 January 2023.

He is running the site through cloudflare with some restrictive settings.

So after you have made a number of requests from the server (viewed a number of pages) within a specified timeframe, it locks your IP address out.

Solution, if you're using a device like your phone for internet. Put the phone in airplane mode and back again, you will very likely get a new IP address. And you should be able to continue surfing the site.

I suppose he did this to limit bot related spamming. But a good bot will be able to bypass it however.

So he will succeed in limiting those not good enough to program a bot that can bypass cloudflare security.

Thought it was only me that encountered that.
