One of my friends is currently working in Nasarawa for 120k and he got a job opening for 300k in lekki.

He's finding it hard to choose one because he has not stayed in Lagos before.

Considering the cost of living of both states, which one do you think is okay?

How much is rent around lekki free zone?

There are more opportunities in Lagos. Go there. This one will lead to better offers in the future.

What about those without jobs still hustling in Lagos. Be adventurous for once Bro.

Even if you say Lagos 120k . Nasarawa 300k. I will still say pick Lagos. Especially when you want to grow career wise.

Nasarawa Abeg.

N120k Value In Nasarawa equals N1.2 Million In Lagos.

That 300k Is useless In Lagos, It's more of like 30k Stipend.

Gone are those days Lagos was meant to Kick-Start your Bachelor Life and have a headway/become great In life.

If you try It now as a NOBODY. You will SLAVE away your productive youthful life to Evil Forces, Merciless Marauders and Capitalists who are leeching on the State.

To make It worse, God help you If you don't have a family background In Lagos or any relations.

In my Area now. A Standard Plot of Land sells for N40 Million. Some of these lands were bought for N10,000 or Less then. Tell me how many years a youth will work and how he will be able to save such money In this useless current Nigeria? Even If someone works for 30years. The person can't save such money except he/she dabbles Into the USUAL WAY of making money In Nigeria😊

Kindly stay in Lafia not Lagos since it's up for consideration.
With that pay you are a rich man in Lafia reasons are as follows
1. Food is cheap in Nassarawa unlike Lagos
2. With 50k out of that cash, your utility bills are likely covered and you can save as much as 40% at the end of the day.
3. You don't face traffic in Nassarawa and you get home on time unlike Lagos depending on where you would reside
4. I have lived in both states and I can categorically tell you the life expectancy in Nassarawa is 75 yrs while Lagos is 55yrs
5. House rent is relatively cheap in Keffi unlike a self contain in Lekki is about 500k without damages, agent, commission and agreement

Meanwhile in Lagos,
1. Transportation can gulp 50k off the pay monthly, even if you stay in Ajah or Sangotedo
2. Accommodation can gulp a big chunk even when the house is not a match compared to what you will get outside Lagos with equivalent sum or less.
3. Plus the population is increasing with Imota rice mill, Dangote refinery and Lekki deep seaport in the Lekki express way, the madness of traffic will increase and I am sure you haven't experienced Lagos traffic (ask those that were on the island today that President Buhari visited how the traffic was today - most of them are probably reading this and will be up and running tomorrow morning by 5:00am on third mainland bridge for those on the mainland
Finally, you already don't know how frustrating Lagos traffic can be plus your life expectancy will be reduced
If you stay in Lag for 50 years, you would have spent 15 years in traffic. Lol

N300,000 per month in Lagos is more than enough to make you okay.

What's 300k? Is it gross or net? What's is the figure after tax and pension? This is what Op should look at first.

Since he said accommodation is free, he can come to lagos if not stay in Lafia.

Abeg my guy show me the code. Is it on mtn or which network?

It's very simple bro, not tweak. Just the normal MTN double data that lasts for 3 months. So be ready to buy new sim card every 3 months. When you finally exhaust your 4 slot, de-register the sims with just 1k each to free up your slots again and continue the routine.
Thanks.

if the Gross Pay is 300k, That means Your Net pay will be About 240k(take home)
with 240k,
if you live in Ajah or close by AND You are Single....

You should Spend Like 100k Monthly and Save 140 or a little more Monthly.

I'll advice you stay in nassarawa, the pay is almost same if you decide to move to lagos - lekki for that matter.
1. Transportation to and fro will devour around 80k/Month
2. Feeding at work/home will devour at least 100k/Month grin

You're left with around 120k grin

I moved to ibeju lekki, from mainland, precisely ebute metta in 2020.

I stay in Akodo, what I noticed is there's money there but if care isn't taken u will spend the whole cash there bcoz things are expensive there, light isn't available in some parts of the area which makes u buy fuel all the time if u need light or rather substitute for solar inverter.

Your deductions about Keffi are not really correct. Keffi can safely be categorized as a suburb other than a city which gives fewer opportunities for upward career mobility. Rent is on the rise due to overflows from Abuja looking for comparatively cheaper rent which leads to a spike in traffic especially if the OP decides to get a job in Abuja environs. Nyanya will teach him a good lesson but like you said food is relatively cheaper.
You will still spend the millions saved on accomodation, then spend the rest on expensive utilities.
The bottonline is at the end of the day, u are still having almost same amount as the Nasarawa counterparts.
So, why squatting/suffering in the first place.
I grew and worked in Lagos for a long time.
It's not worth the stress.
The cost of settling in Lagos is not only alarming but also annoying.
Gratias

Lagos on the other hand is a land of opportunities 'if' you survive; a skill every Nigerian is beginning to master these days. Insecurity is in fair amounts on either end: Transit robberies in lagos, herdsmen attack in keffi. Pick your poison. You can survive on a low salary in Lagos (Millions of people do) and a monthly income of #300k definitely gives more leverage for handling personal finances.

I'd rather squat in a hostel and earn 300k than live in a 3 bedroom with #120k. A lion in the jungle or a dog in the city. It everyone's choice.
