Let CBN publish how much of the new notes have been received by each bank and how much has been issued out by the banks. They should explain the reason for the variances.

Many corrupt politicians are already buying the new notes from the banks making it scarce and unavailable to the common folks on the street.

The reason Africa and Nigeria in particular cannot compete with other continent is not corruption but wickedness or selfishness. Wicked policies, Constitution etc

If not for the scarcity of the new notes which CBN should have done something about even before releasing it, I see no reason why this crooked politicians should be dictating when the deadline should be. It's definitely not because they love the masses but solely for their own selfish interest.

The policy will yield zero to no result if the CBN governor succumb to their pressure.
The investment of printing the new Naira Note will be gone to drain if extended.
How will the policy yield zero to no result because it was extended?

What do you mean by the bolded? Explain more about it cause I do not understand you.

I stand with the Senate on these, all those saying they are doing it for their own interests don't know wot they are saying.Imagine the deadline is 31 of January and so many people hv already stopped taking d old notes as of yesterday. So many big shops hv stopped taking it,u cnt use it in d airport again cos those selling their have stopped taking it.The new notes are scares. So tell me why won't d deadline be extended when CBN and banks keep playing d blame game on d detriment of d poor Masse's.Or u think if a serving senator wants d new note he cnt get as much as he needs in a corrupt country like ours. Its high time we leave all these political bullshits and call a spade a spade.
Oga forget those idiots at Senate
There are crucial issues they should have addressed but they keep mute
Masses suffering from their silence
Let the KEEP MUTE on this issue

Instead of pushing for an extension, they should first demand to know the reason for the scarcity, and once that is known, they can then offer their own advice on how the problem can be solved.

If it's extending to July and the scarcity still persist, it would then mean another extension. That's nonsense.

We have never had this kind of problem in the past when this country changed its currency. Why now?

Why there's scarcity of new notes is the question they should be asking CBN and the banks on our behalf, and not pushing for an extension maybe for their own selfish interest.

100 days is more than enough for everyone to exchange their old notes for new ones, but CBN and the banks should ensure the new notes are available.

The truth is that people are still hoarding the new ones in their possession, once the deadline reach the new money will come out by force. If cbn should make the new ones over available then these thieves will go and swap the old ones they have at home thereby rubbishing the whole essence of it

Why didn't senate advice Nigerians to deposit old notes weeks before the deadline and embrace the online channels?

Dey play.

It isn’t their duty to do so.

1. We all cried out that the 20,000 daily limit was too small and CBN changed it.
2. We all cried out that the deadline was too close/short .
ByJuly 31 gives all those abroad to find ways of sending their currency down as well as continue to inform the population.
Now, my personal belief why CBN insisted on Jan 31st was to curtail buying of votes for the election. The senate waiting this long hoping that CBN would extend the deadline but a week into it and nothings forthcoming hence the legislature.

I don't know why people cannot reason with their senses, the deadline is 31st January no doubt, what efforts are they making to make sure that the new notes are readily available? Till today ATMs are still dispensing old naira notes even payment across the counters in banks is still old notes.

It is not the business of the law makers, because if they want the new naira notes they can easily get it by all means rather it is the poor masses that would suffer for it. How many of us can boast of 10k new naira notes at hand today?

I wish you know what’s going on in those banking sectors. There are some physical cash in that bank that can’t be deposited into any account but rather , will be used for day to day running of transactions . Just sit and watch anything’s coming into light after the deadline
