Hi lazynairander1,

If you can tutor me (guidance basically) on SQL, Python and how to go about having data analysis project online, you would work less number of hours and be happier.

I'm good with Power Bi and I'm more than an average user of SQL; so you wouldn't be stressed tutoring me.

Last week I had an interview for a data analyst teaching job, after series of interview process which includes.
Analyzing data with Excel and BI
Extracting and cleaning data with Python &SQL
Modeling, analyzing and visualization with R.
Though my Python prowess wasn't that good but I was told that what they needed is a data analyst who can handle R very well and I really impressed in that aspect.

I showed my data analysis projects on the above software excluding Python. Then we went to oral interview which led to the salary part. I was asked to name my price.
I told them to give me a breakdown on how many days I will be coming to work because I learnt it will be part time teaching job, the interviewer agreed to mail me my schedule.

I was hoping it will be weekend (like Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday) only for me to realized it will be Mon-Thur (that's not part time, I told the manager or so).
The worst part is that they are willing to pay me 10k/week for the job and I will be paid each week I come to work which means it's only the weeks the students avail themselves that I will teach and be paid.

Those tech pay such ridiculous amount or am just unlucky?
What am I expected to do with 10k weekly?
Transport?
Data?
Food?
Electricity?
What exactly?

I was furious though and I am still furious.
You don't have to be furious just tell them the pay is tool paltry for you and the days you are to work is off it. Tell them you can't do it

Why learn and acquire so much when you don't have an ideal market for your skills? (Just wondering). You don't need more than 1 from this portfolio to make it in life, please. Continue to apply for jobs online and don't forget to include your degree, diploma or anything. Some employers are obsessed with the traditional degrees (B.sc., etc.).

Data analytics is beyond just handling python or POWER BI. You may have to acquire some sort of degree in business or social sciences to understand data application and also position yourself for a job out there.

In the mean time, visit any Tertiary institution around you and see how you can help students with their data analysis. That 20k offer is the minimum any student would pay for the simplest linear regression analysis. You can earn well via unconventional and less competitive means without struggle.

Shaa... Stay away from a relationship.

With 10k weekly salary, you're not qualified to be in a relationship. Don't come and put someone's daughter in poverty.

May God Help you struggling men!

In a country like Nigeria almost everyone is struggling.

Even people that seem to have arrived in Nigeria are a sickness away from poverty/destitution.

Friend, it's better you start somewhere instead of complaining. If there's nothing better, use that to keep busy; forget the money; do the job well and hope for growth...

Before I graduated, I remember my mum was a bit concerned that I started doing home lessons (as if I can't simply get money from home). Well, as a young educational student, due to my changed life I no longer have friends to chill out with, so I started using home lessons to get busy and thereby build my teaching skills.

I did that for like 6 or 7 years (even during service and after graduation). However, lately I've taught foreign students from Asia, Europe and south America.

By God's grace I think I'm just beginning to get the benefit of starting small—like 2k or 3k lessons. Although I think I was also interested in the work not just the money.

God bless.

Business entrepreneurs often stay curious about the latest business trends in India because these trends also determine their business growth. At this point, a business entrepreneur should get in touch with ExpanGlobal, who has information about the current market and how it will impact the growth of your business.

Most of you have been so battered by APC's weaponized poverty that you don't know your worth on the global market if you have the skills.

Give it a rest
$5k/month is no big deal..... and if you have to leave your bed to earn that, just know u are the one that really need to aim higher....

Now, you expecting a company to be paying a Data Anayst $8k right from Nigeria is really a benighted and hyperbole statement from your side. You are literally expecting to be paid similar amount twitter pays software engineers in-person in US... Better face reality... Not even now with the massive layoff ongoing in the IT sector....

And if u wanna pull the card that its data analyst earning you the $5k, why don't you update the OP on how to land that so u can prove u are not a clown....

Oga, that is not my only earnings. I have three companies, one of which has four branches in Nigeria. If you care, I can give you the name privately and invite you for coffee in one of our two Lagos offices.

People like you make a lot of noise to cover their lack of understanding of how global employment works. There are guys earning far more than the figures I stated and like I said, people like you have been battered by weaponized poverty so you do not know your worth.

Let me remind you OP is yet to get a Job. He needs something better than the 40k he was offered. If you are confident enough, get him that better Job you believed is out there rather than wasting ur bragging here.... As far as the eye can see, you've contributed nothing meaningful to this thread And you are hell bent on sending somebody's son on a wild goose chase....

And the bolded sentence is a very irrelevant statement ....

Nevertheless, send me your company address, the one closer to ikeja GRA.... I will come for the coffee...

Your comments show just how shallow your mind is and how it works.

I am not the one looking for a job, the OP is. I have told him where he can get one if he is really serious and can package himself properly with the same effort he put into the 10k/week job.

Most Nigerian youths have no idea how the world works and you are probably one of them. If you think going on LinkedIn is a wild goose chase, then that is what it will be for you. You can see a cup as half full or half empty. Your choice.
