1) Tinubu is not a Fulani and Buhari prefers Fulani to other Nigerians. When he was appointing only Fulani into strategic positions, Tinubu supported the policy without reading meanings into it. If he did, he'd have known that as a Yoruba, that he stood no chance of gaining a Buhari support if another Fulani is on ballot

2) Tinubu made an error in not choosing a Fulani vice. Buhari and other ethnocentric Fulani in power could have seen half a reason to back Tinubu if he had chosen another ethnocentric Fulani as vice. Tinubu failed to understand that the Kanuri are eternally rivals to Fulani and that a government like Buhari's won't want a Kanuri near power. Obviously, Tinubu thought that since Abiola seemingly won with a Yoruba-Fulani Muslim-Muslim ticket that he too could do the same. What he failed to factor in is that the intigues of power in the north that stopped Abiola is also out to make sure a Kanuri is stopped.
Having already gone Muslim-Muslim, he could have gained half of Buhari's support considering that in many quarters, they're seeing him as a candidate that his vice would hold sway since he doesn't look all too healthy. A Fulani vice would have given the Fulani cabal hope of grabbing power via the back door.

3) What Fulani cabals all around the country is hoping for is consolidation of their hold on power, not some outsider transition that would make them lose some grip on the momentum they have gained. Tinubu represents a disconnection that must not be allowed. Moreso, with a Kanuri vice, there is no knowing how it would affect the Fulani agenda. So Tinubu must not only not be voted for, he must be stopped.

What Nigerians failed to understand, especially the Yoruba who deferred to empowerment of the Fulani is that they're tenacious. Ask the Hausa. They'll fight with everything to retain it through PDP. And after Atiku's tenure, they'll all migrate to another party if PDP refuses to hand over to another Fulani like Tambuwal. They've learnt a secret and if it works, all Nigerian tribes would be in their pocket.
