A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has appealed to the Federal government to intervene in the refusal of the United Kingdom authorities to allow Sonia Ekweremadu have a kidney transplant despite having many donors who are willing to assist.

Chidoka, who was at the London Criminal Court where Sonia, her father, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice are standing trial for alleged organ harvesting said no matter the outcome of the trial, Sonia deserves the right to live.

In a post on his official Facebook page. Chidoka wrote "On Monday, I was at the London Criminal court to observe the trial of Ike, Beatrice, and Sonia Ekweremadu. Some weeks before I had visited him at Wandsworth Prison. He was in good spirits. Ike is a family friend, a close ally, and an associate. My prayers, thoughts, and good wishes are with them at this time".

"We have known each other for the past 30 years when he was a grad student and part-time lecturer at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. His subsequent rise from Local Government Chairman to Deputy Senate President is a story for another day".

I listened carefully as the prosecution advanced its case before the jury but I will not comment further as the matter is before the court.

"What I find distressing is the refusal of the UK authorities to allow Sonia to get a kidney transplant despite a deluge of donors. I think the Nigerian government and we the citizens must call on the UK authorities to allow her to get a kidney transplant in furtherance of her fundamental right to life.

No matter the outcome of the case, Sonia deserves a chance to live.

I appeal to the Minister of foreign affairs to please intervene in this serious issue of a possible violation of her right to life by the UK government.

An intervention will save Sonia's life and will be in line with global examples of countries intervening on behalf of their citizens.

I am impressed the Nigerian High Commission has been and still is present as an observer at the trial.

As for the current travails of the Ekweremadu family, I can only say: this too, shall pass"

Why is Chidoka releasing a statement?

Go to the UK and fight for her release let's see if the UK authorities won't handcuff you too and throw you behind bands.

Ike Ekweremadu is one of the most selfish politicians that this country has ever produced.

You didn't even read what I wrote; you were more interested in your comment. Chidoka went to the UK to observe the court proceedings.

I am saying he should go and fight the UK authorities if he thinks that his friend's daughter is being unfairly treated so they can throw him into River Thames. undecided

Is something wrong with you? What does that have to do with his daughter being prevented from receiving life-saving organ from a willing donor if Osita Chidoka is factually correct with his allegation?

Hate, wickedness and vengeful souls will never allow you folks see clearly or in a humanitarian manner.

If you had some common sense, you would have known that I was only mocking the man.

Some of you can read and write (which helps you carry the educated tags), but you are still ignoramuses who cannot think outside the box.

Remove smart from your name because you sound foolish most times.

Even a man sentenced to die on a particular day is constitutionally allowed to live till the day he is to be put to death. She should be allowed to have her transplant if she has a donor.

Ogbeni, I laugh at your brazen senselessness and sheer idiocy. What can be worse than a man using the constituency allowance he ought to use to develop his local community to acquire properties all over the world?

The last time I checked, the EFCC seized 40 properties belonging to one man who has been active in politics since 1999 and still wants to be a governor in 2023.

Oga, you don't know the meaning of those words you used because if this man you shamelessly defend was good, he and his sick daughter wouldn't be caught up in this web.

Those willing to donate, are they UK residence? If not, a visitor can’t come into UK to donate organ. It’s against their rule. The donor boy they took from Nigeria can’t even donate even if he gives consent because he’s a visitor..

Infact in Uk, if you’re a stranger and you want to donate, their are agencies that you’ll go through. It’s the organ agency that would approve you for the donation. The UK doctor must have seen that something was off before asking the boy questions..

Ekweremadu should have been very smart enough to record the boys conversation here in Nigeria before they leave. His main problem now is he has no evidence to justify himself. If he had recorded the boys voice, he wouldn’t suffer a lot because I kinda think the boy has changed the whole story and not telling the whole truth, and there’s no way UK won’t listen to him..

For example, if the boy says he was kidnapped or abducted or something, how will Ekweremadu prove it? Court won’t listen to only word of mouth. A sound record would have helped him here..

Y’all should learn. Whenever you’re engaging people on significant issues, always try to make proofs. Things change. People change. They can say A today and change mouth to B tomorrow..

I feel your point bro. But we’re yet to hear from Ekweremmadu himself. I wish we could hear from him. I really feel for him sha..

I don’t think he was doing anything wrong. He was only buying the boys kidney which I am sure the boy wasn’t forced for the negotiation. He’s just trying to save his daughter as it should be. What is wrong is the whole process..

This life sha.. He has worked all his life and acquire things. At this stage of his life, see how life entered him..
