The CBN identified money bouquet as a crime in Nigeria in a tweet and flyer it sent out on Friday.

This occurs only a few days after Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress, was detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on suspicion of misusing the naira.


Ms. Omoseyin, 31, was detained after a video went viral showing her stepping on and spraying the freshly redesigned naira notes.

The apex bank did note that misusing the naira includes spraying, selling, squeezing, and defacing.

It is your civic responsibility to defend the naira. Report naira abuse right now, the CBN urged in a flyer posted to its Twitter account.
