How Tinubu's God-given foresight and administrative skills saved Victoria Island.

I was familiar with the ecological problem facing Victoria Island as far back as 1996 when it was highlighted on Frank Olize's Sunday show on NTA. Then I saw it for myself in 2005 when I visited a friend in Victoria Island.

What remained of the Bar Beach was just a tiny strip of land and Ahmadu Bello Way was perennially flooded. Later, I learnt that Tinubu, the governor of Lagos State at the time had signed a contract since 2003 to solve the problem of the ocean surge forever by killing a bird with two stones, stopping the perrenial surge of the ocean by reclaiming land from the ocean and at the same time establishing a world class real estate piece on the reclaimed land. Work started in 2008. As of today, Eko Atlantic is taking shape and Victoria Island has been saved. At what cost to Lagos State taxpayers? Zero Naira! It was pushed to the private sector. That's one man blessed by God with an international touch to solving problems. Abeg anyone with pictures of Eko Atlantic City should help me post them. I'm very sleepy already.

ECONOMIC COST IMPLICATIONS
With Victoria Island being one of the central business
districts in Lagos, the state was in danger of not only
losing valuable land used by many thousands daily, but
the loss of revenue from this bustling district in Lagos
would have a catastrophic effect on the economy of
Lagos.
It is estimated, by using market rental rates at the
time, that roughly Four Hundred Sixty Billion Naira in
yearly rental revenue would have been lost had
Victoria Island been inundated by coastal erosion. This
number does not account for the Gross Domestic
Product of the businesses and residents themselves
in Victoria Island.
Lastly, If the onslaught of the ocean surges on Victoria
Island had been allowed to continue, Victoria Island
would have fallen into the Atlantic Ocean. Without the
protection of Victoria Island, the other densely
populated areas of Lagos, including Ikoyi, Lagos
Island, and all the other communities along the Lagos
Lagoon would now be bearing the brunt of the
relentless ocean surges.
Something had to be done.
A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR THE
ONGOING EROSION
Recognizing the dire need for action, Governor Bola
Ahmed Tinubu called for solutions. South Energyx
Nigeria Limited, the city planners and designers of
Eko Atlantic City, worked with marine engineers Royal
Haskoning to create Eko Atlantic City and submitted
the project to the Lagos State Government for
consideration as a solution that could solve the
problem of coastal erosion at no financial cost to the
Government.
The sustainable solution created by South Energyx and
Royal Haskoning called for reclaiming the land that
had been lost to 100 years of coastal erosion and
erecting a sea revetment to protect Victoria Island
permanently from the onslaught of the Atlantic Ocean.
The design and testing of a sea wall, which could
stand the worst storms in 1,000 years, was tested to
its’ limits in Copenhagen at the Danish Hydraulic
Institute.
A Concession Agreement was concluded in July 2006
between Lagos State Government and South Energyx
Nigeria Ltd. Commencement on The Great Wall of
Lagos could begin.

The environmental devastation due to lack of environmental impact assessment is so grave that the the construction of the wall used to stave off the tide from Atlantice ocean is such that it leads to massive water encroachment into the opposite end being lived by poor people....and accounts for massive flooding and countless death every year.
Atlantic City is being built by 2 Lebanon Tinubu's friend and business Ally called Chagoury brothers who also helped Abacha siphoned money to offshore account and ran away from the country after Abachas death until Tinubu brought him back....lol...I will give the full gist later

Why not? Because smart Nigerians can deduce from Buhari's underhand moves against Tinubu that APC has two arms, the Buhari arm which has been tormenting people since 2015 and the Tinubu arm, which shone and is still shining like a million stars in Lagos. ACN is different from CPC.
