As we countdown to the Nigeria presidential election on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, it becomes clearer each day that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is poised to return to power and recover the Nigerian economy from the destructive hands of the All Progressives Congress. Amidst this joyful anticipation, an assassination plot on the Nigerian people's choice, Atiku Abubakar has been uncovered by law enforcement agencies. This plot, orchestrated by some cabals in the ruling party, are led by the notorious vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima

It is not the first time, the former Borno State governor has been fingered in an assassination plot. According to a confession by detained Boko Haram member, Mustapha Kolo, "When he (Shettima) was Commissioner, he used to give us plenty money. He even gave us money to kill Fannami Gubio, so he can become governor, but he did not complete his payment; we were following him, he didn’t give us again."

It is important to note that, Engr. Modu Fannami Gubio was the gubernatorial candidate of the ANPP to succeed Ali Modu Sheriff, but was killed mysteriously barely one week after the party's primaries in 2010. As if that was not disheartening enough, to access total control of the party's structure in the State, Shettima collaborated with the deadly terrorist group, Boko Haram to annihilate Alhaji Awana Ngala, who was the then ANPP chairman in Borno State and this was revealed by the Australian Negotiator, Dr. Stephen David.
