I don't really know much about rooted phones. I bought this phone from a nairalander and I discovered that it was rooted. I downloaded an app on it but the app refused to install because the phone has been rooted.
I will like to know the merits and the demerits of rooting an android phone. Thanks

Oga don't pay a dime to anybody...just google search advantage and disadvantage of a rooted device you will see it from quora and XDA developers or any other mobile blog..

One major con is: you can't update your phone else you risk bricking it.

If the version of the device is above 5.1 then using magisk and flashing your patched boot image is the best option

Don't root your phone unless you know exactly why you are rooting the phone because some functions will not work after rooting the phone

See yourself asking someone for token just to explain rooting.

In this day and age, there is little to nothing to have your phone rooted unlike before, most of these options now come baked in. Even the almighty Pixel OS adds customisations now.

Cons - 1. easily hacked, cos root and source files are open.

2. You cant get into secured services, cos your phone is compromised and it will reveal source data. E.g most american bank apps wont work until you unroot

My advice is dont root your phone unless you know exactly what you doing. I bricked my old infinix couldnt get the same infinix software that came preinstalled as i didnt do a backup of the system files. I had to settle for another os in the end.

So before you root. Make sure you learn to backup your system files in case of incasities that is the first step never delete system files without having a backup lol

After rooting it,u will love it more cos you can do more dubious things with it ... Love rooted Android phones. Flashing roms and all

Im not sure there is much need for rooted phones these days. Back then rooting made a lot of new features available to android. But now most of those features are native to the latest versions of android.

I bought mine new also and I discovered it's rooted.
