Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), is leading his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Bola Tinubu, by over 1,000 votes in 17 local government areas (LGAs) in Lagos State.

As of 07:30 a.m. on Monday, Obi had received 448,878 votes, while Tinubu had received 447,187 votes in Lagos' 17 local government areas.

The figures are based on the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) results for the February 25 presidential election in Lagos.

The floor was opened on Sunday by INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, at the state collation centre in the Yaba area of the state, and the collation lasted until midnight on Monday.

The results for 17 of the state's 20 LGAs presented by 3:40 am on Monday including Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Badagry, Agege, Ikeja, Shomolu, Kosofe, Amuwo Odofin, Eti Osa, Surulere, Apapa, Ifako Ijaiye, Ajeromi, Oshodi Isolo.

The results presented for Mushin LGA have yet to be cleared by the state collation officer because they are being contested by the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC), and thus most party agents have yet to sign.

INEC requested that they be presented again.

Meanwhile, the only two LGAs yet to be announced are Ojo and Alimosho. The state REC is expected to reconvene later on Monday to finalize the results.

Lagos collected 6,214,970 of the 87, 209,007 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected nationwide for the election. Kano comes in second with 5,594,193 and Kaduna comes in third with 4,164, 473.

From 1999 to 2007, the governor of the state was based in Lagos. Other presidential candidates in the race, besides Tinubu and Obi, an ex-governor of Anambra State, include Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Even with rigging, Peter Obi is stilling well. It is now evident that the structure they're talking about, is structure of criminality.

This is what INEC will do...due to pressure and no wanting to expose their atrocious rigging. They will declare that no candidate met the constitutional requirements ....

Thereby declaring the election for a second run-off ballot...they will choose APC and PDP strongholds, which will definitely make Labour Party to lose woefully.

Nigerian youths let's watch and see. We are going to beat them to their own game.
