Actually, like I have said before, even if the candidate does not get 25% in Abuja, if he get 25% in a 25th state, he will win. Abuja is not a state and thats why it is always mentioned by name. It should be called the 25 state rule

He has to have 25% in Abuja, as well as in 24 states....If he has 100% in 30 states but less than 25% in Abuja then we go again... There's a reason the following quote was made " AND Abuja" not "Including Abuja". Because Abuja is the Center, the very beating Heart of Nigeria, so if you lose here, you lose everywhere regardless of anything happening in Oshogbo, Damaturu or Jalingo.So invariably there are three benchmarks: Win the popular vote, win the spread AND let your spread capture the FCT....If it fails any of the requirement..well..

go and read the constitution and understand it before login to nairaland. A sub section says a candidate with majority of valid votes cast shall be declare winner. That was the section INEC apply to declare BUHARI winner againt Jonathan in 2015

Section 134 subsection 2 of the constitution speaks clearly on that. To emerge winner. A candidate must win popular votes AND 2/3 of the federation AND Abuja.

You need to WIN ABUJA.

What the candidate require is 25% of the votes from FCT not an outright win.

Exactly what I told someone days earlier, but he's telling me that clause is ambiguous.
I don't understand how "25% in at least, 2/3 of the 36 states and the FCT", comes to mean "25% of 2/3 of the 36 states and 25% in the FCT".

Total votes now is 460000.apc had 120,000 which is above 25%
it is less than 25%. Total votes is over 600,000.

Stop the confusion....It said 2/3 of the federation AND FCT....not 24 states and Abuja...thus it means after you get your spread in the federation then you try and get a spread in the FCT. If it was the 25 states rule then it would have just said "2/3 of the federation." Since Abuja is already a part of the federation it won't matter whether you get 25% or not in Abuja as long as you have spread else where.

A majority Candidate does not need to win the FCT, just 25% of the total valid votes.
In 2015, GMB got over 40%
There will be a run-off if these are not met.

But not to worry, Peter Obi has already satisfied both conditions:
1. Majority of valid votes
2. 25% votes in 24 States + the FCT.

25% in any of the 36 state including FCT means, he can get 24 states without necessarily getting FCT.

If Tinubu doesn't get 25% in Abuja, the election will go into a rerun but as it stands, Tinubu will get more than 25%.
