So after risking my life to vote on Saturday because INEC assured us that our votes will count, we are seeing the direct opposite.

I have been thinking, why does this keep repeating itself ?

I came out with several solutions, that some of the new representatives can work with for a law against election offenders.

The reason why elections don’t change much is because nobody is held accountable.

My proposal:

1. When an election is overturned by the Supreme Court based on irregularities, those who manufactured fake results from the PO to the REC should serve jail terms without an option of fine.

You can’t cheat and waste tax payers money without consequences and expect things to change.

in advanced countries, their electoral bodies check for possible irregularities before making pronouncement so even if you go to court , you will definitely lose. Eg, Trump!

2. Any security agent who looks away without making arrest when unharmed hoodlums try to disrupt a pooling unit should be derobed.

How do you send an empty police man without even a baton to secure election materials. Isn’t this already a reg flag ?

3. When at least 2 major political parties raises concern about an election, the electoral umpire should suspend the announcement of result to reach a reasonable conclusion.

4. In the case of Presidential election, when an issue arises and the INEC chairman isn’t looking to it and it goes to court and the petitioner wins, the INEC chairman should serve jail terms.

5. The ward levels should be the most structured leveled, not the Nonsense Abuja declaration. All party agents should be able to calculate their results at the ward level based on what’s available on the IREV. No IREV, no continuation of the process.

What’s on the IREV must match what’s on the paper.

6. If there are evidences that a sitting governor recklessly used his office to perpetrate electoral manipulations. He should lose his immunity and face a panel of inquiry. If found guilty , he loses his governorship seat automatically.

7. NBA and not the president should be empowered to appoint INEC chairmen if we are really serious in this country.

When these are done, going to the courts will no longer be lucrative.
