Whomever wins will not solve Nigeria problems. Nigerians are stubborn to the core and do not obey rules generally. Common rules of traffic or one way traffic- you see people violating common road laws. I too know everything mentality is plenty in Nigeria Corruption is everywhere, tribalism is at the heart, everyone want to do short cut and get rich. Even in overseas, many Nigerians are caught cheating or doing fraud. I hope future generation is not as corrupt as this current generation. |

Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore did it “alone”. General Park of South Korea did it “alone’. Deng xiaoping of China did it. Paul kagame of Rwanda is doing it. In an environment of disorderliness, only one leader can change it. How? Live by a strict example. And apply quick and equal justice for those who don’t want to fall in line. Before you know it, the community will give you massive support because everyone actually wants a better environment. Nigeria was not half as disorderly, racist and corrupt as all these aforementioned countries before these individuals took over. This is not some 500 years history. These guys changed their countries right in front of us. 1 Like 1 Share |

Nuzo1: You are mentioning dictators who had absolute power. Even Kegame is a dictator masquerading as a democrat. In Nigeria, our presidents are not that powerful. Even with a rubber-stamped NASS, you still have the governors to contend with. One man cannot change Nigeria. When Buhari assumed leadership, he and Osinbajo slashed their salaries. They appealed to the NASS to the same. Bukola and his ilks merely laughed. In fact, the NASS refused to slash their salaries. |

BluntTheApostle: Dictators? As if we never had loads of them in the past. Ours were even more powerful than the people I mentioned earlier. Ours were in the mold of Suharto and Sukarno of Indonesia, Marcos of Philippine and Pol Pot of Cambodia who all shared boundaries Singapore and ruled during the times of the initial guys I mentioned earlier. They were colossal failures to themselves and their countries. My point is that though authoritarian rules expedite development but it has more to do with the political will to work for your people whether in a military regime or in a democracy. Nigerian leaders lack the political will to enact change and follow through a progressive policy to the end. They keep giving silly excuse of “how many people you wan jail?”. How many people can you even jail when you are as guilty or even more guilty than the person you want to jail. Look, Lee Kuan Yew didn’t change Singapore because he was a dictator. He did because he came with equal and quick justice and political will to execute fantastic policies. 1 Like |

OKOATA: Certainly, some changes must be made. But hinging your hope on that is a disaster in waiting. Na still the same people go navigate am. Find someone with a record of practicing orderliness and equal justice. The rest will be history. |

And please sir, slashing salaries without enacting it as a law is one of the most pretentious moves I’ve ever seen. Let’s not even talk about slashing salaries but going ahead to allocate billions for “feeding”, fuel, estacodes etc. You dey chop billions but turn around to tell some rascals in the senate not to chop millions? They will of course laugh at you. 1 Like |

Nuzo1: We are talking about now, not military rule. And it is because of some delusional people who think Peter Obi will just come and then you have a new Nigeria. Aside the fact that we have one of the weakest presidential seats in Africa, we also have a very faulty federalism that is designed to keep us retrogressed. In Rwanda, for example, there is decentralization of power only on paper. Power is actually centralized in Kegame, who the West have described as a "benign dictator". If Kegame wants to make a law to punish bribery with death in Rwanda, all he needs do is just make the law. But in Nigeria, if Buhari wants death sentence for bribery, he first has to send a bill to the NASS. It may take years to become law or not even become law at all. Reforms can be easily passed through in Rwanda, so decision making is super fast. Based on our political structure, one man cannot change Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |
