Your election as president of Nigeria is a victory for our democracy - Alapa writes Tinubu on election victory

A former minority whip of the House of Representatives, Chief Nelson Alapa has described the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the just concluded presidential election as a triumph of Nigeria’s democracy.

The former member representing Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency in the lower chambers of the National Assembly in his contrgratulatory letter to the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, noted that Nigeria’s democracy has again proven to be a rallying point for our shared prosperity and values. Commenting on Tinubu’s democratic credentials, he said, “as a politician of conviction, you have never wavered in projecting democratic ideals that stood great nations out”.

“Your indispensable role in sustaining our democracy; your firm and unflagging faith in our democratic process which you passionately exhibited during the days of NADECO, your unenviable role as a life-wire of our democracy during the days you remained the opposition figure of our imperfect democracy, will continue to earn your deserved victory the accolades of every lover of the Nigeria’s democracy.

Chief Nelson Alapa who was an ex-officio member of the APC, also expressed his optimism that the President-elect will bring his wealth of experience, his sterling performance as Lagos governor, where he lead various critical reforms, to bear in the leadership of Nigeria.

You will recall that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was on Tuesday morning declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election. The former Lagos governor polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 to emerge second and third respectively.
