Buhari would simply just disobey it.

It seems the primary reason for redesigning the Naira was to make worthless the truckloads of cash in homes that politicians would use to wrongfully influence the elections in their favour.

Buhari who has never hidden his belief in the policy and who brazenly disobeyed court orders to reintroduce the old 200 and 500 into circulation would feel justified to stand his ground in light of serious rigging allegations tabled by Peter Obi and Atiku.

The rationale behind a continued ban of the old N200 and N500 would be that if rigging was this bad despite the chronic cash shortages this policy had on politicians to rig the election, how much worse the rigging if the old notes are brought back into use before all the elections have been concluded?

The acceptance of the old notes would only commence after the elections on March 11 and that is upon Buhari's say so.

I am sure Buhari would be very pissed off that the old notes would continue as a means of payment until the end of the year. This wiould give the politicians ample time to convert their old Naira to new or simply just launder it by paying it into the banks.

In a Tinubu presidency, expect a softer line against corruption though it will perform a much better job of fighting it.

No.man who has true plans to fight corruption will prefer to scrap petrol subsidy ahead of blocking leakages, wastaves and general corruption practices.

To me TinubĂș should do away with the new Naira notes. It is a waste of resources as simple as that. Obasanjo said you don't reinforce failure. Continuing with the new Naira notes is to reinforce failure.
Emefiele no try at all.

I already said he would fight corruption much better than Buhari.

I had initially written through commercialisation, liberalization, deregulation and privatization.

But i did not want to burden the readers with such big terms and so cut them out and most importantly, did not want to divert the attention of the readers on the subject matter: the likelihood of the president brazenly disobeying the court ruling.

There will a lot of corruption, even if we want to live in denial. Corruption under Buhari was worse than Jonathan's as he introduced new windows for it through the subsidization of forex which led to an explosion in roubdtripping. I'm sure Tinubu will make the Naira market reflective again and also deregulate the petrol price.

You are wrong. The policy was orchestrated by Emiefele and PDP to make the election unbearable for APC..

It was political.

Emiefele and Malami would soon be asked to retire

The CBN has autonomy and should be respected. Buhari tarnished the image of the CBN by meddling into the ways it runs things.

I too have no confidence in the Naira redesign policy, not just simply because of the way it was carried out.

My prime grouse is that the new notes are less far attractive than the old notes.

At the end of the day, it is the CBN's call

Very funny post, the same president that didn't fight corruption for almost eight years wants to suddenly start fighting corruption with the new naira policy less than 4 months to go . Even the corrupt individuals that were convicted or prosecuted by previous adminstrations were released by this govt and granted presidential pardon shocked. This same govt watched while politicians killed the value of the naira during party primary elections by mopping up the foreign currencies available in the economy to buy delegates shocked. I get angry when people claim that the new currency is to avoid vote buying and fight corruption angry sad

Calm down my guy calm down.

Yes for me to state that corruption under Tinubu won't be as bad as under Buhari speaks volumes!

The best measurement of his war against corruption is his handing over to Tinubu.
