For several hours now, I have observed that whenever I browse for any article in Google chrome, ecosia search engine pops up rather than Google.

Is anyone else observing this also?

You have a malware installed unknowingly in your browser.

These malwares collect traffic by redirection.

Same here. Apparently it is a search engine that advocates for trees.

No it happens unknowingly.

Some search engines are malware and can stick to your browser.

My humble opinion: uninstall the browser and reinstall problem fixed

That sounds plausible but in this case it's not

What do you recommend?

For mobile just uninstall because even if you clear cache the malware is sticky

I will also recommend same for PC it's called a malware for a reason.

Check the adons and off it you will see it comes back to Google landing page .

Just fixed it. It turns out that in Google settings, one is at liberty to choose the preferred search engines. Mine was at ecosia. Changed it back to Google. Thanks for the feedback

Yeah

It's not harmful

Although anytime your device shuts down it goes back to the afor mentioned search engine.

You have to follow the steps again

Else delete and reinstall

It is sitting problem.

Go to your browser sitting. Scroll down you will see Google services.

Change the search to Google, you will also see ecosia on the list.

Hope this helps?

Let me know if it has been fixed
