Lets stop insulting each other's religion here on nairaland. we all worship thesame God even through different means. God will not judge you based on your religion, but on the good things you did here on earth. I cant say because am a catholic, or pentecostal, i have automatic access to heaven. I cant say because i go to church everyday, i will definately go to heaven. NO! you should not only call His name, but also live for His name!!

Do you think God will be happy when you insult other people's religion? or do you think He will be grate to you? Do not condemn here on earth, do not condemn here on nairaland, leave all condemnation to God almighty. He is mercify and have reasons why he allow so many religion to exist on Earth. Sometimes, i just want to stop being religious and be an atheist, but i have understood what religion is all about.I am a catholic, but i must tell you that i have never insulted other church's service. I follow my friends to their church and also respect their pastors and faith;.

This hatred of other religion i see in Nairaland should stop.

Hi smile4kenn,

Glad to see you're back. smiley Here are a few things I'd like to share with you:

smile4kenn:

God will not judge you based on your religion, but on the good things you did here on earth.

'Good things' will not wahs anyone's sins before God. That is why Isaiah 64:6 our righteousnesses are filthy rags - and faith in Christ saves anyone who believes.

smile4kenn:

you should not only call His name, but also live for His name!!

Good point.

smile4kenn:

Sometimes, i just want to stop being religious and be an atheist,

Is it worth throwing your faith away simply because uncharitable things were said about your religion? undecided

The reason why Christ makes so much sense to me is because He did not come as a "religion"; rather, He came as the Redeemer. He endured all the wicked things people said to Him while they mocked as He went to the Cross. I also mocked Him countless times - because I thought my "religion" was better than Christianity! Today, the very same One I mocked has forgiven and saved me, and given me an imperishable hope in Himself!

He is not a "religion". He is the living Redeemer - and He still loves. kiss

smile4kenn:

This hatred of other religion i see in Nairaland should stop.

I second. We can all dialogue even if we disagree. I'm still on Nairaland because a lot of people still know how to love and respect others.

Many blessings. smiley

lets get one thing straight, we think we are worshiping the same God but it seems like we are just lying to ourselves, There wouldnt be turmoil and confusion if we are indeed serving the same God (methods of worhsip have got nothing to do with it )

Anything that contradicts aint the same, for instance, the christian believe sees Jesus are the only way to God while islam believes he is just a mere prophet, thats a huge difference , considering the fact that Jesus is the main focus of the christian faith,

some people always find it interesting condemning catholic church. I dont condemn. I have been to mosque to pray with my friends. i have also been to a buddist temple. I dont care, all i know we are all working for heaven.

Hmmm. . . remember someone (and many others) care for your soul - otherwise they would not even care to present 'truth-matters' to you. You should care - He loves you that much that He would like you to know who He truly IS (Heb. 11:6 and John 14:6). smiley

@pilgrim

You are saying remember others right? i should know who He truely is? Do you know how old i am? so u think i dont know Him yet? What about buddist, hindus, kermas, orthodox, grail messengers, so you think they will not make heaven?. I think you have a limited way of believing in God, you have been brainwashed to religion criticism, Thats one of the greates problem Nigerians have, We should think beyond religion and shouldn't take it as a criteria to live on earth. This world has gone beyond taking religion as an important issues. The pope, sutans, imams, elders think less than what you nairalanders think.

People like you should not be allowed to take public post because you will wipe off other religions from your city. let me remind you on the history of America. In the 16th century, USA was a was a wild widerness and only deadly indians live there. What made people migrate there? it was religion!! Then, britain gave a law that Anglican should be the only official religion and that affected the puritans, catholics and other religions present in UK that time. so they discovered a new land(N America) and they decided to migrate there to practice their own religion. then during that time, religion ruled the world and even the Queen of England was the head of Anglican then, thats to show you how religion was powerful. so when poeple migrated to America, they decided to put religion aside, because they believed it was the cause of war, hatred, discrimination then in the world,

lets think less of Religion plzzzzz

Still no problem. I haven't been trying to defend the Pope and the Catholic system. Jesus still loves you - and that is my message.

Maybe. I don't think more about religion to becloud my thinking about who Christ is to me.

God taught us how to love one another, but here we r castigating one religion or the other. This religion will go to hell fire, this religion is where there is light and that one is in darkness.

Who has made us judge over one another?

@oby1,

Oby1:

God taught us how to love one another, but here we r castigating one religion or the other.

God also taught us how to love HIM. Infact, Jesus put loving God first before loving one another (Matt. 22:37-40); and love for God is to have a heart to obey His WORD. How could anyone ignore and reject His WORD and still claim to be loving HIM?

Oby1:

This religion will go to hell fire, this religion is where there is light and that one is in darkness.

Who has made us judge over one another?

We are not seeking to castigate anyone's religion. God gave Christians His WORD - and He asks us to read, study and keep it. How could we ever know the difference between LIGHT and DARKNESS if we ignore what God has spoken?

Here are a few things about God's light for our instruction:
John 1:4 & 5
"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

John 3:19
"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

John 8:12
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

John 11:10
"But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him."

John 12:46
"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."

1 John 1:5
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."

1 John 1:7
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

1 John 2:10
"He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him."
Because we love you dearly, that is why we keep warning you, pleading with you, praying for your souls, prodding you to turn to the WORD of God, and imploring you to let Him speak to your hearts. Rejecting His WORD because of the traditions of Catholicism is a dangerous thing indeed. This is what Jesus said:
John 12:48
"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

John 14:15
"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
Will you continue to reject His WORD in order to keep the traditions of Catholicism? Jesus still loves you. Show your love to Him by keeping His WORD and rejecting the traditions which contradict His WORD.

May God help us all. smiley

Lol, @cgift, I was a Muslim - and hated Christianity with passion. . . until God heard the prayers of many who had been praying for my soul. I could hardly believe the reality that the living Christ made in my life when compared to my previous way of trying so hard to please God. Yes, I've experienced Him in a supernatural way - and still do today.

Best part of it is that. . it is so easy to simply trust in Him and experience His promise to save! smiley

You guys call us separated brethren. You claim only the catholic church is the way to heaven and tht protestanism leads nowhere. Have you not judged us then?

Let me ask you something, do you know that Catholicism is a liberal religion which believes that christ is not the only way to heaven? Strikes you ehn? You know that negates christ's teachings and once you negate the teachings of christs through your actions and doctrines, you are a potential candidate for the anit-christ?

Let m also chip this in : the catholic church has a very serious and negative role to play in the near future regarding the beast and 666! shocked Only if you can ask to know more will Christ give it to you!! You need to be sure of where you are standing so that you dont just waste away. Christ hands are open to receive you oby and other catholics. You have strayed far away but you knew it not.

I saw this earlier, but didn't want to comment initially because I wanted to give some time out so you guys get your acts together. The one thing I've sought to offer here is that we as Christians (Catholics, Protestants, or any other) should seek to express our love for one another by the love revealed to us in the Bible.

If that does not go down well with you, I wonder how my posts seems to have made me a judge of anyone, far less even Catholics? Who was the Pope "judging" when he denouced non-Catholics? Who was the Pope to have played "judge" by such denunciations - and yet we haven't read any Catholic say anything thereto in expression of your "Catholic love" for the brethren? This doublespeak and dubious peity of asking people to do what you haven't done is what gets some of us taking you back to your very roots. We are not playing the sanctimonious "judge" that has become the celebrated garb of Vatican; but at least, it is well for us to challenge the idea of a man parading himself as "Vicarius Fili Dei" to judge others - lest we see history repeat itself over Catholic Inquisition.

Not as long as you remain outside the gates of Zion Oby1 wadr! You need to come to the level of reasoning together with God (Isa 1: 18a). You are reasoning with your popes and priests who have said that you can lie under oath/chat/deceive/fornicate, in short legitimise sin for you as long as you are obeying them! Dont you see that Christ never said that! I smell danger ahead but you can escape

My sister, in the multitude of counsel there is safety. I was in a baptist church this last sunday and a guy came up to give a testimony of his life. He suddenly realised the doctrine of the catholic church was wrong when he decided to go into the scriprtures to find out.

One of such errors is the sprinkling of water Where did such a doctrine come from? Baptism of Jesus? No way! We read in the bible Jesus was immersed into the water not that water was sprinkled on him.

I advice, go into the scriptures to find out whether the catholic doctrines conform totality to the life of Jesus.

God Bless.

Bro! There is an anathema! Word of caution! They have been banned from reading the bible and given it a meaning of their own. So the scriptures is what the popes/priests say it is. They have sworn absolute loyalty. So that advice that they go to read the scriptures is nonetheless futile my brada!

Lol. . . although it is true that most Catholics have an uneasy calm about reading the Bible and have to rely on what their priests tell them (even when the priests in question have no clues thereto), it nevertheless is undeniable that every Catholic (and Protestant) go to the WORD of God and read it for themselves. Failure there, is failure in everything else.  grin

That scripture comes in radily handy. Catholics are slaves of the popes so who are they to search out matters for themselves and derive a meaning? Its we kings (protestants) that has that glory in God to search out matters and discover truths hidden in the scriptures. They will rather stick to traditions of men unfounded in the WORD.

To evry Catholic reading this: I command scales of the devil to fall off your eyes in Jesus' name.

@cgift,

cgift:

Well, I'd say that the humbling responsibility God has given us is to genuinely love them. This is something that I enjoyed in our Monday night sister's Bible study where our local Pastor cautioned that 'genuine love will be expressed in elevating others for Jesus' sake'. It is for this reason I'd not be quick to say that Catholics are "slaves" to anyone - not even the Pope. And if we can see that, then I believe that our prayers for them will be more effective. (PS. I'll try and share me on this in an email with you).

Now that is not to disparage you in any way, dear brother. Infact, I definitely agree with your premise - because indeed the Catechism clearly hinders our dear Catholic friends from searching the Scriptures daily for themselves to see "if those things were so" (Acts 17:11). Let's see how the Catechism spells it out:

Catechism #100

"The task of interpreting the Word of God authentically has been entrusted solely to the Magisterium
of the Church, that is, to the Pope and to the bishops in communion with him."

So, even if the Popes and Bishops are clearly wrong (as they quite often have been), then it also means that there's nothing any Catholic can do about the heresy.

Just two verses, though:

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious" (1 Pet. 2:2 & 3).

Yes, even the apostle Peter whom the RCC erroneously calls the first Pope, did not think that only "Popes and Bishops" can interpret the WORD of God for 'newborn babes' in Christ. I pray that our Catholic friends will see this glorious release and liberty in Christ that they may experience the joy of understanding God's WORD for themselves.

Cheers.
