People cant proudly be be flouting their degrees anymore cos education in Nigeria is so useless. My friend's brother is in 300L in a university in Europe and he's been on an excursion to America twice , Solicon Valley and another Tech destination. Meanwhile, lecturers went on strike for not allowing Nigerian students experience this and lecturers couldn't update themselves anymore on research works overseas which they could have come back home.to impart and some illiterate youths were busy condemning that?

If you have the opportunity to japa and further your studies overseas, don't hesitate to do that. I know of a guy who had a good grade in an engineering course in Nigeria and left for Germany to start from 100L over there, now he's in 300L. He said he just realised he wasted 5 years in Nigeria doing nothing. He's been in Canada once and another EU country from school on excursions. Sadly, those politicians the illiterates are running after have their children schooling overseas. They'd end up coming back becoming their ruler.

Very bad. kiss

Some of the politicians that benefitted from free & easy education, end up destroying the Education sector.

That is why our engineering HOD where I work in a government hospital could not even open an email account.

Why must we keep incompetent people in positions of power demanding intense competence in the 21st century?

The conclusion of this article is still the Nigeria's wrong approach of accessing who is doing well is equal to material acquisition....

The article is rather confusing......2:1s are lecturers..... meaning knowledge

2:2 are business men.......meaning trying many error methods till you hit it

This article is in a sense very senseless.

Do not despise first class because you have 2.1 and do not despise 2.1 because you have 2.2 and same goes to other grades.

To your certification, please add skills or tranings, it should not be for knowledge sake but for money sake, from my personal experience.

Learn , relearn and unlearn, you never can tell where and when you will use your certificate , skills or knowledge

Treat every one with respect and look beyound your paper qualification

I have seen a graduate since 2014 till time of posting this, no job.
I have seen a graduate going back to be a barber and the list goes on

If God has butter your bread with legit connection , thank am and move on, it is not by first class or third class this days but it's better to be on the safer side of the tides.

Exactly my brother.
It is as if I wasted a valuable 7-10 minutes of my life reading rubbish epistle.

Perhaps, he wants us to know that he has a Master's degree from a foreign university.

I stopped reading when I deduced your theme.

Most of your points are not cogent reasons to castigate 2.1 and esteem 2.2

Again, what is the name of the Foreign University you did the after the graduate study and in which Country.

Let's just verify something.
Very apt questions up there bro.

Your comment reminds me of several vacancies I've seen in time past. cheesy

Some companies will be looking for a candidate and/or candidates with:
• First Class grade
• Less than 26/27 years old
• 5 years experience
• Professional Certification is an added advantage
• Technical Skills is also another added advantage
Etc...

Damn! grin grin

All these for a fresh University Graduate, bastardized with both internal & external strikes cheesy, suffered various carryovers coupled with anxiety caused by impromptu lectures/tests... grin

Passing out from these hurdles, doesn't mean they can handle the practical aspects of their field cos they've been filled mainly with theories, theories and more theories. 🤦

The Nigerian Education system needs a complete overhaul. kiss

We can't keep repeating the same thing that doesn't work, and expect a fresh & fit outcome. 👌

2-2, 3rd class and pass like this sort of consoling that they do better than first class and 2-1. Statistics says otherwise.

While there are no absolutes, the average 1.1 and 2.1 graduates fare better than the rest of other grade graduates. It is only sensible that there will be fewer 1.1 and 2.1 graduates compared to other grades. Do not use outlier to judge, on the average a first class or second class upper graduate has demonstrated an attitude of hardwork and smart work, it is also not just the attitude, there is a form of aptitude displayed. There will be some few others in the 2.2 , 3rd class and pass cadre who may later experience a shift in attitude, and may also experience grace, they do not make the majority.

This article hilds no water at all.
People with Pass, and anything lower than 2.2 are the ones that cram to pass the most. Alot of them have the "na to pass be koko" mentality, some can't just keep up, others are distracted by life circumstances, but the common denominator is the inability to study properly. From what I've observed.

Folks deceive themselves that they can read with afrobeat playing in the background, they don't read with pencil and paper, others read then write on paper and assume they've understood the concept.

30-5-30-5-30-5-30 study routine is the best thing that ever happened to me. With this routine, i go for about 5:30 to 6 hours of study straight. After falling from 4.00 to 3.19, I quickly jumoed back to 4.00..
Nigerias education is not that bad, the problem is the lack of facilities and harsh environment. If not, Nigerian students are a force to reckon with in the job market.
