I read somewhere Ekaledarhan the prince of Benin who was expelled from the empire found his way to Ile Ife and changed his name to IZODUWA (BENIN) but corrupted to ODUDUWA (YORUBA). He was the father of Oranmiyan. They forum is populated by Edo people so most of them collaborated with the poster. In this same forum, many are claiming that Lagos is part of Benin kingdom. I asked which part of Lagos. Some replied Eko and some said the whole of Lagos. How true is this claim? |

It's just the Island. Eko is the Lagos island side. It's eko idumota. Not to be mistake for the Lagos statewhole state. The Aworis are the owners of the State. There were into farming and fishing before the Edo Mornarchs and the soldiers claim that territory, it's was called oko by the Aworis meaning farm land. It was the Edo that changed it to Eko. Meaning camps in Edo. Idumota it's self is one of the edo soldiers. Anywhere you here idumagbo. Idumota or idungaran, those are territories captured by the Edo empire. |
