Lagos state could have got KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, EY, Accenture to develop a tax software for a few millions dollars and turned over ownership to the state goverment as is done in developed countries.

Instead for the last 20 years Alpha Beta has collected more than a billion dollars in commission that could have been used to develop Makoko, Ajegunle and pay for the terrible road infrastructure in Lagos state.

What does any of this mean? We are talking about the incentives to collect taxes! That's what Lagos State hired AlphaBeta to do! It's obvious that they do an excellent job of it, and the reason they do is because Lagos has given them the right incentives to carry out the job with zeal.

You seem like the sort of short-sighted person who thinks it's more "proper" to pay an employee a flat N50k and see that employee bring in N250k over that time period, rather than pay 10% to the same employee to go hustle and pull in N15 million, so fixated are you on the extra N1.45 million you'll "lose" that you give up N13.25 million instead. Thank goodness the leaders of Lagos haven't suffered from your kind of myopic pettiness.
from consultant to employee. Weldone o.
You don't motivate consultants that way. They are professionals and suppose to deliver irrespective the amount involved per transaction. What you are arguing is like Telecom billing users by importance of calls or messages and not on volume.

It's your kind of mentality that has left so many businesses stuck in 2x2 corner shops because their owners prefer to own 100% of nothing rather than "just" 5% of something worth billions. It's a good thing Lagos isn't being run by people with your way of thinking.

Prosperity of the corrupt elite at the expense of the people when there are fairer alternatives is what I am challenging here. 5% or 10% of everything in this case is unfair because same effort needed to receive a N1000 tax is needed for a N100,000 tax.

I don't go to HMRC Coventry office which covers where I am here in the UK, I access them online. Anyone paying taxes in Lagos, don't need to go to Alausa though I know your mind is still stuck in the 1980s ways of doing things.

Regarding UK, so what have you asked about the UK tax? I heard they do pay road tax, viewing TV tax, bla bla bla..

Did you ask what you’re intending to ask here in Lagos?

Use your brain if you have one and it us working.

Collecting a percentage of tax irrespective of effort it took to receive it is unfair.
It doesn't take more effort to receive a N100m tax than a N1m tax.
y does ordinarily Pos charge u 50 naira for 1000 n 200 for 10000?
Is it not d same effort?

I want us to start from there first

This comment only shows that you have no understanding of how incentives work. If AlphaBeta (or any other such consultancy) were being paid a flat rate, what incentive would they have to do more than the bare minimum required to earn that rate? Why do you think salesmen are paid on a commission basis?
don’t mind him

Pos will charge 50 naira for 1000 n 200 for 10000

Help me as him if it’s not d same effort, many of them just put mouth into what they know nothing about once tinubu is involved

Anything tinubu like this, they off their brain before they comment

I contacted HMRC and I am actually on the path of getting tax refunds for tax I paid to the UK govt while working as an international student even though I have switched to skilled worker visa and I don't mind the council tax, road tax, TV license etc because services are being rendered and moreover I am on a free UK medical care tied to my skilled worker visa till 2028 and I comfortably pay those taxes.

POS operators spend more to get more cash. With withdrawal limit in place, they queue more to make more withdrawals, spend more to buy more cash from filling stations, gas stations, and cash driven businesses. They also shoulder the risks of banks in transferring cash and it cost money sometimes.

Alpha Beta on the other hand, will receive a N1000 tax and a N100m tax alike. Same bandwidth, documents, and resources are expended. Add to this fact, the reality that once an organisation, business entity or tax source is identified, recurrent tax collection is easier.

If UK govt did not ask me where I came from before assessing me for tax refunds, why should I answer you?

I was born and raised in Lagos, I pay related dues to the property I have there linked to my name and I can't connect how state of origin is a prerequisite to ask about taxation in Lagos where I pay tax.

You are very wrong. POS operators spend more to get more cash. With withdrawal limit in place, they queue more to make more withdrawals and thus need more time or a dedicated withdrawal assistant, spend more to buy more cash from filling stations, gas stations, and cash driven businesses. They also shoulder the risks of banks in transferring cash and it cost money sometimes.
