For some of us who watch politics intently, we will be doing a state by state analysis of the voting patterns, and the current sentiments on the ground to predict the likely outcome of the coming election results in some states. Watch this space.

Reason 1. 24 years of PDP, Normal is boring.

No matter how good the normal situation is, it's bound to get boring at some time. Normal is boring. People have seen the in and out of PDP in most south east states, and even in places where they have performed, many people are now tired of seeing the same old faces again and again, haba, na only una dey this state?

Reason 2. Backing from old, corrupt politicians.

Imagine watching Jim Nwobodo of the 1970s and 80s talking about the need to support Peter Mba as governor in 2023, Imagine Sullivan Chime, Chimaroke, Gburu Gburu and Ken Nnamani teaming together to bring in a candidate, even if Ike ekweremadu is not in prison, he will be supporting Peter Mba to be governor!

People still believe that a vote for Peter Mba is a vote for the continued corruption in the state and country, even so, people believe that Peter Mba of PDP will be a meal ticket to the old government structure which has been squeezing the lives out of our people.

These old politicians all need to get back to the past where they belong, taking Peter Mba with them. The people need a fresh start.

Reason 3. The Peter Obi tsunami

If we are to take what happened on February 25th 2023 as a guide, the people were not looking at any faces or considering names, everyone was just thumbprinting for Elupee with happiness. This may happen again as the people are still angry about the old establishment and how they are trying to frusttrate Peter Obi. A Labour party candidate will have easy sympathy votes because they are the underdogs in this election.

Peter Obi started a movement, and the people are still very much tuned into his ideas. A vote for his party LP is a vote to keep the dream of good governance alive.

4. Nsukka voting block

Like them or hate them, the Nsukka nation has been climing that they must be given a second chance to rule enugu state again after completing an 8 year reign under Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. They always argue that Nsukka is very large, and so deserves 16 years instead of 8 years on the throne of the Lion building. Labour party candidate, Chijioje Edeoga of LP is from the Nsukka nation and they are already showing their support for him.

Nsukka people always offer block votes. This will mean that up to 7 or 8 local governments will vote for LP, while the rest will be split between 3 political parties including Labour Party. This is a clear advantage for Labour Party.

5. The Oyibo Chukwu anger

The people of the state are enraged about the killing and burning of the Labour Party senate candidate for Enugu East, Barrister Oyibo Chukwu. His death, and the manner it was carried out seem to anger a lot of the people that should have voted for PDP's Peter Mba. Nkanu people which is the base of Peter Mba will never vote for anything Labour Party as they are alleging that it was Chimaroke Nnamani who was behind the death of Oyibo Chukwu. Protest votes will be cast against Chimaroke and his PDP.

He was a commissioner in PDP in early 2022. He left PDP when he couldn't get the senate ticket from Chimaroke for his part of the state. Then he switched to Labour and went for the gubernatorial ticket and secured it.

They think he can do better because he will have no Godfathers to settle or to please. He is a free agent that owes nobody any allegiance now. He was also rumored to be a good man.

His duty will be to the people of the state, as an Obidient now, he will try to set a standard that will please other Obidients.

However, I have known Frank Nweke Jr way back when he served as information minister under Obasanjo. Dude was a bright mind and would resign from his position to further his education at Harvard University.

You don't get to see Nigerian politicians do that. It shows how much he values education and I have taken time to read his manifesto. So, electing Nweke Jr would be the best thing that happened to Ndi 042. That's probably why Aisha Yesufu is supporting his candidacy as opposed the Labour Party candidate.

That's the feeling on the grassroots, PDP men has become cruel powerbrokers in most communities and a new breed are rising up after 24 years of being sidelined. The SE are moving away from the PDP.
