Exit Interviews Should be Used Appropriately.

It is a normal culture for HR professionals to conduct Exit Interviews for Employees who are leaving the organization as this is a common practice in many organizations.

A question comes to mind What the purpose of these interviews is for if they are not used to effect the necessary changes in the organisation?

Exiting employees most times will tell you the main reason for leaving because they have nothing to lose, hence they will tell you all the ill cultures of your organization, why not use such to get the right information to start effecting some changes to reduce the employees turnover; some even use exit interviews against the said employees, especially during a reference check.

Exit interviews should not be done for formality's sake, use that information to make a difference.

Know the difference between an invoice and a pro forma invoice.

Most times, people get confused between invoice and proforma invoice due to its similarity. But the fact is they both are different. An invoice demands payment from the buyer for the goods being delivered to him, whereas a proforma invoice is like a dummy invoice sent to the buyer on his request, before the delivery of goods.
A proforma invoice is a document issued by the seller to the buyer that provides information regarding the description of goods which is yet to be delivered. It specifies the particulars of goods i.e. quantity, price, weight, taxes and any other commissions. The objective to issue the proforma invoice is to help the buyer to have an understanding of goods for which he has placed an order. As the document is not a true invoice, it does not constitute actual sales, so no entry is made on the issue of the proforma invoice in the books of the seller for accounts receivable (Trade debtors) and the receipt of the buyer for accounts payable (Trade creditors). In short, its issuance has no accounting implications.

A pro forma invoice is created before the sale actually happens. A supplier will issue a Pro forma invoice on a request by the buyer before delivery of goods. The supplier will deliver the goods after the goods will be ready and the buyer will pay when the invoice is received. The final invoice amount will be the same or close to the amount on the pro forma invoice. Pro forma invoices are commonly used in imports or exports for a smooth delivery process. Proforma invoice is not a requirement by law. However, it is only issued for convenience & as a part of best practice in business.

You can differentiate between invoice and proforma mainly by one word i.e. "Proforma" which is labelled on a proforma invoice whereas no such word is written on a regular invoice.

An invoice is sent to the buyer confirming that the sale occurred and requesting for while a pro forma invoice is sent to the buyer that provides information regarding the description of goods which are yet to be delivered.

An Invoice is issued before payment is made while a pro forma invoice is issued before goods are delivered to the buyer. The objective of issuing an invoice is to inform the buyer that payment is due for goods and services provided while a pro forma invoice helps the buyer know what to expect and have an understanding of goods for which he has placed an order.Regular invoice is final and cannot be modified. It is legally binding upon both parties while a pro forma invoice is temporary and subject to change.

About 2 weeks ago, I had noticed that more candidates were beginning to stay longer in their organizations, at least in some of the recruitments I have handled in recent time. That means some stuff are changing so I decided to conduct this poll.

As you can see, one of the key determinant factors is an intangible factor, that’s Career Progression.

What’s Career Progression: This is the process of climbing the ladder during your Career journey. Seeing a growth, moving forward, being promoted, finding new challenges, new opportunities and getting the most out of your work.

Out of the 496 people that voted, about 208 people want to see the in their organization.

Don’t call an Accountant that spends 8 years in your organization with the entering title of accountant, same accountant. What happens to other prefix that should come before “accountant”.

Employers should create viable structures to accommodate different job titles in each department.

A Sales rep of 5 years in your organization should see growth in salary, responsibilities, leading others, having opportunity to coach others and of course in job title.

Let them see new role with more responsibilities — like from a marketing coordinator to a marketing manager

Allow them make a lateral move within your company so that they can learn new skills and work on something they are passionate about.

Making people feel valued represents about 169 out of the 496 people. People want to be:

So organizations should start or improve in the following areas:
