Wow I guess you are right, I didn't see it as an adaptative feature now that I think of it it is.

Adaptation should be a positive trait that improve an animal surviving mechanism.
Like dogs and big cats having a good nose to track their prey😁 it is an adaptative feature

On the other hand human losing their sense of prolonged smell, though it's looks like the opposite of adaptation, but it isn't.

Odours and smell that might irritate humans will be a problem if our nose doesn't get fatigue.
Infact everything smell will be irritable to us if we just walk down the street.
So we adapted to kill our prolonged smell, as that feature of prolonged smell was no longer useful in hunting. If we are to hunt, we will depend on our good eyesight that can easily distinguish color rather than our nose.
