I am silent because the recent unfoldings in politics have again thrown me in very deep thoughts. Sometimes, when I feel drained with happenings, I just recluse. But a number of whatsapp messages, calls and discussions, Facebook posts from concerned folks across the country and especially Osun State, tagging me wouldn't let me enjoy my reclusion; I'm being called out, called out because I'm noted as an advocate of women inclusion in governance.

I salute the courage and resilience of a dear friend, the tigress of our time, the woman who dared; Aisha Dahiru Binani Governor binani Binani Ambassadors. It is not about the win, it's about challenging the status quo, it's about moving against the tides, it's about charging on in the face of a slim chance, it's about believing in the power of womanhood, it's about Why not me?, it's about YES, I CAN!. Aisha fought a good fight and everyone is proud of her (men and women), I'm particularly elated because we share a spirit.

As women, we are endangered specie in the murky waters of the politics of this nation. Aisha has paved way, we shall follow. We are not deterred nor are we shaken, rather, our hopes fly higher and we are even more charged!. This is the second time, women would be cheated out of the Governorship seat, Mama Taraba's soul rest on. This wouldn't go the way as usual, the Aisha I know will pursue to a logical conclusion.

I congratulate Rukayat Shittu, I pray God grants you the grace and wherewithal to succeed.
Are you not happy for her?, Why then, do you sacrifice or kill the ambitions of your "own " daughters?, no be juju be dat?

Shame on Patriarchy, shame on Politics anchored on stereotype, shame on Egoistic Politicking.

Thank you Adamawa APC for fielding Binani, thank you Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq .for fielding Rukayat and for believing in the "Not too young to rule "
thank you to all advocates of women inclusion, thank you to all Cheerleaders. Together, we can!.
The struggle continues, VICTORIA ASCERTA!

Mrs (Dr) Olubukola Olaboopo is the immediate former Commissioner for Women affairs in Osun State.
She is scholar, a lawyer by profession, Teacher, mother, women and children advocate and a politician.
