Truth be told, the whole cashless system is not working, and the central bank failed badly in this regard. There are some certain things that we can't buy with transfer; even using transfer for the purchase of 1,000 naira worth of goods is a waste of transfer fee and SMS alert fee. In advanced countries like the UK and the USA, people still spend cash freely. You don't expect that market woman selling 100 naira's worth of ugwu leaves to collect a transfer from you. 


As a matter of urgency, CBN should make Naira available for Nigerians. If CBN merge all our bank accounts to our BVN and make sure that one BVN cannot withdraw more than 20,000 naira per day, we will be alright. A situation where Nigerians buy naira at 30% charges is crazy; 700 naira in cash is now sold for 1,000 naira via transfer. People are dying on a daily basis, while many people get depressed. CBN should forget the shame and accept that the whole cashless thing has failed woefully. 

I like the BVN control angle, it may reduce the POS shenanigans.

Bro, it has gone beyond just CBN now, even the commercial banks management are also hording any cash send to them by the Apex bank and in turn sell to those pos operators and other small businesses. The gtb bank at my area disclosed this to us when they notice that they are only the one dispense cash via their ATM while other banks ATM weren't dispense any.
