Is there security footage of the incident?

Unfortunately most Nigerians, security guards in particular become little gods once given small authority and a gun makes it worse

The other side of course is that most Nigerians also have untrained and vicious dogs that cannot be properly controlled in public or amidst strangers. For too many of them a dog is flex to intimidate.

CCTV footage will provide clarity as to what actually happened
the video she posted was cut and joined…. Cooperative Villa is mostly for retired civil servant and retired military so the elderly normally do evening walks…I was there and the owner of the dog was there and nobody can control the dog anymore

Why let it stray? If u cant keep ur dog in ur house, whatever happens to it is welcome. Must we wait till it attacks kids ?

What's the estate's side of the story?
Was the dog being aggressive when shot?
it may be aggressive but the story didn't state that the dog had injured anyone so why should he have gunned the dog down.

Depends on the dog breed..if it's a Boerboel, Bulldog, Cane crossoe, bull mastiff, kangan, Rottweiler,I say shoot the dog.those breeds could either kill you in seconds or cause you irreparable physical damage.but since the owner was there already,I think shooting the dog was grossly uncalled for.

I may not know what a Roxie dog looks like, but as someone who is scared of dogs, I will say the security men did well by gunning down the dog. That will serve as deterrent to other dog owners to always chain their dogs at home.

You just open ur mouth n talk rubbish... Try 2 injest word think about them before u voice out..
1. The dog did not harm or attack anyone.
2. The owner of the dog was there to carry is missing pet.

What right does the security have 2 gun down the dog?
If he is scared of dogs, who's fault is it?

What nonsense estate laws? Does estate laws supersede national or state laws, does it supersede common sense?[/I worked at one estate along Ago Palace way Okota, as an interior decoration. My client has a pet, that occasionally find it's way out because it has seen its kind female dog in one of its walkout. the security warned that if the dog wasn't restrained , they would have no choice than to kill it because it's the rule and agreement within the estate . The owner has no choice than to comply .
I think they are trying to protect the inhabitants of the estate.

And so tasty as pepper soup and roasted pepper meats
It's true they have exciting taste plus their oily meat which makes it enjoyable esp when taken with beer, but then killing them unjustly with cruelty is bad and should be condemned

The security went too far but, he was right by shooting the dog. Few months from now on, the dog would be able to tear him apart. This is what happens if you don't leash your dog.
Shooting that dog was not just animal cruelty but pure barbaric malice.
1. The owner reported a missing dog.
2. The owner sighted the dog alive and was about to reclaim it, when he was restrained that the dog MUST be shot.
3. People that have access to guns do not understand that just guns cannot save you. When full violence erupts, even to shoot the gun, will be difficult.
4. The shooter and the man who gave the orders should be in jail.

How do you think,.those people selling dog meats killed them?
The chickens , turkeys , cow , goats you are eating , do they kill them justly?

Even in the western world,. They plunge live lobsters in boiling water, before cooking , Is that not cruelty?
Is there any just way of killing a living thing.

it reminds me of an incident back in Ilorin, the guy went into the compound to buy car and not knowing there was a Big Dog inside the compound and he aslo said no warning ⚠️ was either at the enterance.
The guy said the dog was ready to kill him if not the fact he is a huge strong man with energy. He had to fight the Dog like man to Dog .He had lots of deep injuries from the Dog bite on his hand.Guy man was so angry with the owner of the Dog.

This particular case is a bit different since the dog was chained and not long, the owner appeared.
And the overzealous security still went ahead to kill it... That man can easily kill humans.

I have lived in a house where drinking water tap and some basic amenities are where the landlady keep 2 big Alsatian dogs. All my pleas for her to properly cage the dogs fell on deaf ears... She bought the first one( mother) and made a not too strong, easily broken cage for her.... Later, she brought the son who had grown up and put the 2 in the cage. So, many times at early morning eg from 6am till whenever, one had the dogs to contend with. It was psychologically damaging to know that if after 6:30 am, one couldnt get the drinking water, one can't get it again and I used it to cook too etc. She even told me the dogs knows every tenant and one day, I asked if the dogs knew my name..... These are dogs that believe that attack is the best form of defense. Dogs that I'm not sure they are vaccinated.

No apology from her.... Instead of her to just fence her compound small, she felt the dogs would be better ...She actually bought the 2nd dog when she noticed the first one seemed a bit weakened ie had reduced the way she barks at people. And this is someone that did not put a back up water tank for tenants.

why shoot the innocent dog
the security man should be charged for the crime under our extant law as stated in the Nigeria Animal Right Act of the 99 constitution as amended
.
That security is very wicked. How I wish the law will show him pepper for shooting the dog in the presence of the owner. If it was my dog once he drop gun I will pummel him to stupor.

A good and socialized dog will remain a good dog and socialized even outside. The fear people have for dogs is the reason we perceive them to be wild. Maybe your own dogs are wild animals but not all dogs are wild

Oga, all dogs are domesticated wild animals.

And the slightest trauma can make them aggressive
