No ruler or leader can ever make it on his or her own.

In a nation, the president or prime minister appoints a retinue of advisers whose job are majorly to give him expert opinions on issues that affect the country.

These opinions turn out to be advice. Therefore it is so safe to say that how a nation turns out is dependent on the quality and sincerity of the president’s advisers.

Here is how relevant they are according to Proverbs 25 vs 4-5;

“Take the impurities out of silver and the artist can produce a thing of beauty. Keep evil advisers away from the king and his government will be known for its justice” Proverbs 25 vs 4-5 GNT.

In clearer terms, whatever Buhari’s government turned out today is because of those around him; those he takes their advice.

Nigeria is a reflection of Buhari’s advisers. Understanding this is what makes successful leaders and also what makes terrible leaders.

The primary job of a leader then is to ensure that he is surrounded by quality and sincere people because in the long run, it is the leader who takes either the glory or the spite from the people he leads.

Sadly, most political advisers are ‘YES’ men who have no integrity of purpose.

There will never be an end to such people around political corridors.

So it is only a wise leader will ensure these are not the kind of people he has surrounded himself with.
