There is one good data point here. Soon Ogun will overtake Rivers state as the second state with the most IGR and I wish Dapo Abiodun can go on more drive coz we have lot of companies in that axis that can contribute to that.

Lagos is out of the league. They shouldn’t even be counting it among the states again.

Anambra with low IGR according to you is doing more when compare with those with high IGR

Anambra state with their low IGR built Standard airport far better than Ogun state, international convention centre biggest in Nigeria, stadium with other major infrastructure

Soludo has consolidated want to introduce air train in Onitsha metropolis, building standard bus terminals in Anambra major cities and flyover, roads ,industrial parks while you are chasing IGR, prudent management is the key

why are you crying on this thread?

Air train just like the mono rail Obi Pandora signed the MOU while he was governor and we don't hear anything anymore. Ogun state still get flyover pass Anambra so what exactly are you talking about?

Industrial park? You are a clown. Industrial area in Ogun state alone is more than all you guys have in the whole South East region.

Ogun state priority right now is Agro-cargo airport which Dapo Abiodun is currently constructing. All states embark on things that will benefit them so I don't know why you are crying here.

IGR is just as important as prudent management. If you don't have the revenue, what exactly are you going to manage prudently? As Ogun state keep widening the IGR base, there will be a time when they will have a prudent governor who will them build on the pre-existing IGR chest. That is what Tinubu did in Lagos.

Because Ogun does not have an airport, then this illiterate from Aroshuku think it is a failed state. How far is Ogun state from Lagos airport?

So if you as a governor have limited funds that you have to prioritize, you will then spend it all on airport because you want to be compete with Anambla to satisfy some illiterates or what are you are you trying to say?

Dapo priority is Agro-Cargo airport for now and he already started constructing it.

Not trying to get in the way of una spat, but if you had listened to Governor Soludos’ speech over the weekend, you’d have been updated on the fact that though the state HOA gave clearance for a 100 billion loan facility to be taken, not a shishi of this amount has so far been taken! The state has been using its own IGR and private investors to achieve what it’s done thus far!

Also, the governor stated the state gov’t is aiming to improve its monthly IGR takings from what it met to 5 billion by 2023!

Wow!

So, basically, Lagos is richer than all the states in Nigeria combined.

I’ll like to see a complete breakdown of Lagos IGR. Is it just taxes/levies? Where does the bulk of the taxes come from since I’m sure most people don’t pay taxes? And does Lagos get any percentage of the revenue from the ports and airport?

I’d wager that Lagos seaports and airport generate more revenue than oil. So, it will be interesting to see what Lagos state benefits from having them on its land mass.

Ogun state made a decent leap from 2015 to 2021.

Anyway, it shows why some people are suicidal about trying to add a state that’s basically a cauldron in a next ethnic group’s territory - to their land mass, hundreds of miles away, in their quest to reap where they didn’t sow.

Lagos seaport and airport revenue is for the federal government. So count Lagos out of that.

Also, most of Lagos IGR comes from the formal sector in form of PAYE. It was over 45-50% in 2015 for example. I haven’t seen the data for 2021 yet.

Below is 2015 Budgit report on that.

Why do you think IPOb wanted Lagos via their Trojan horse Chinedu GRV. If you had listened to the obidients twitter spaces, you would realise that Lagos was even more important to them than the presidency because of the IGR that Tinubu helped develop.

As luck would have it, just this morning i was watching the financial program presented by Rhotus Odiri on AriseTV of a few days ago that i saved on my Sky recorder. A guest mentioned that most of Lagos’ IGR comes from PAYE receipts ( i think he said about 70%) and that the state gets much less from medium and small-scale businesses, which he was surprised about considering the huge number of medium and small scale businesses in the state! Obviously, there’s still a lot more scope to include more tax payers!

Thanks a lot.

It shows Lagos is the most cheated state in Nigeria. This should end the chirping/bickering about FG and South South oil building Lagos. The ports and airport make more money than oil.

And if the IGR is primarily from PAYE tax (which is the formal sector) , why are Igbos who thrive in chaos and the informal sector, as traders, always acting like they contribute significantly to the development of Lagos? These people are crazy.

Your breakdown also shows that the excessively huge population isn’t that beneficial in the grand scheme of things since only a small percentage would be in the formal sector. The rest (which is the bulk of the population) don’t really contribute much despite putting enormous pressure on amenities/infrastructures.
