Good evening NL'ers, I seriously need your candid advice.

2021, she had 2 miscarriages and
since then, we've been looking forward to another
pregnancy which God just answered that Prayer as she recently announced to me that she's taken in.

I need help as to the necessary precautionary measures to take by nutritional food,and everything Health-wise.,so the foetus can atleast hang on till 3 or 4 months.

Thanks in anticipation.✍️

*No sex, biko leave her alone for now. They say it is housewife myth but just do it biko.
* At least 1mg of folic acid and vitamin C for the next 12 weeks. After which she can take a single dose of her prenatal vitamin(pregnant care). Hopefully, this will be a viable fetus.
* No stressing, if she doesn't work encourage her to just keep sitting with her legs on the couch for the next 12 weeks. Doctors that prescribe bed rest know what they are doing.
* Eat veggies and drink a lot of water.
* Be positive and prayerful.

May this end in praise for you. Congratulations!

Several factors could have led to the frequent miscarriages she had which sometimes is usually hard to pinpoint. Reasons such as;

* Low progesterone levels
* Chromosomal abnormality of the fetus.
* Incompetent cervix (low progesterone levels can cause this).
* Production of poor egg/sperm quality as they can form abnormal fetuses.
* Untreated infections.
* Hormonal imbalances (low progesterone levels are one of such). etc.
————————————

Let her have her progesterone level checked and a full hormonal profile test done to ward off any possibility of hormonal imbalance. Progesterone creates a healthy uterine lining to support a fertilized egg, embryo and fetus. If progesterone levels are too low during pregnancy, it could cause complications such as bleeding or miscarriage.

Also, her cervix could be incompetent, that is, it contracts, weakens and opens too early during pregnancy. This can as well lead to a miscarriage which still leads us back to low progesterone levels. Progesterone supplementations may help and as well, cervical cerclage.

Also, let her make sure she has no untreated infections as this can also lead to a miscarriage.

There’s also no proof that stress, sexual intercourse or strenuous activities can lead to a miscarriage. They are unfounded. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry. A friend has had over 3 miscarriages. We did bed rest, no trekking, limited movements, everything on this green earth, yet the pregnancies went down.

Hope she starts her ante-natal care very early and take her multivitamins religiously. Speak to your gynecologist as you may not be able to get the full answers here. May this one stay. Best of luck.

What was the doctors diagnosis for the cause of the previous miscarriages? Please move this to the health section to get more professional advice.

STRESS and moreover,she later complained of how she over-fed herself that night and the next day she wasn't feeling anything around her womb again then the following day she started seeing thick blood and that was it.,and this is for the 2nd miscarriage.

The 1st was actually STRESS no doubt.

I stand to be corrected though, but right now I'm meant to blive it's all based on STRESS and OVER FEEDING.

Its only a doctor or medical test that can be able to direct you better, then check if she has a weak cervix

But on a lay man side

Give her brake from sex, unless she demands for it and when it's done, you must apply extreme caution

Help her to stay away from stress and stress related things that can trigger her stress level including her emotions

Let her have enough rest and sleep, even if it means stopping her from going work just to carry this pregnancy to full term

Lastly, look after her very well, get enough fruits for her to eat steady and vegetables and early antenatal registration and follow up

Good luck

I second a test for progesterone. 1st pregnancy i had 4 threatened miscarriages till the doc placed me on weekly progesterone injections. Next time I was pregnant, I was putting pressure on the doctors to give me same injections and they basically said there was no need.

Please take her to a good gynecologist.

Did the pregnancy stay after you took the progesterone injections? We are about taking same route for my friend. She has lost about 3 pregnancies consecutively. I have advised her to see her doctor to give her Duphastone supplementation. Or perhaps her cervix is open, so we are looking at having a cervical cerclage done.

I will suggest prayers

Why because whether it's spiritual or not spiritual, prayer to God in the name of Jesus works.

May God see you both through

Seek God on this journey because by strength shall no man prevail

Congratulations in advance… 🎉🙏

But while you’re saying a thunderous NO to another miscarriage, I would suggest you take her to a gynaecologist NOW.

Hers is a special case already.

Many factors beyond stress contribute to and cause miscarriages.

Like Uyai mentioned

UyaiIncomparabl:

Several factors could have led to the frequent miscarriages she had which sometimes is usually hard etc.
Reasons such as;

* Low progesterone levels

* Hormonal imbalances (low progesterone levels are one of such). in

Commonest cause of miscarriages is chromosomal abnormalities incompatible with life, so nature just takes it out.

Factors such as age of both of you, very important.

Cervical incompetence usually manifests after the 1st trimester.

Not forgetting autoimmune disorders also.

As such, most times here, what is commonly practiced is pregnancy sustenance with the use of Progesterone supplementation.

Then the usual bed rest, etc.

Please, see a gynaecologist who will within the limitations of our environment still use the principles of thorough history taking and examination, to elicit the possible cause of the recurrent miscarriages; even before investigations.

All the best… 🙏

How old is she?

At what gestational age did the miscarriages occur?

Does she have a medical condition?

33.

3-4 months hence the reason I suggested cervical cerclage and/or progesterone supplementation. We did bed rest and limited movements, yet all went down.

She once had thyroid issues but that was long treated before she got pregnant with her third.

Seek medical advice from a doctor cos women's body system differ. What might help woman A prevent miscarriage might work against woman B. (Women who have experienced pregnancy understand this much better)

You should also try to be soft with her, some women get extremely scared during their first pregnancy, they begin to feel that they might die during childbirth, or the baby might wash away...So just be calm when talking to her and encourage often, share names for the child with each other, cos it would boost her confidence.

You should also stop her from doing hard domestic work. If the domestic work in the house is so much, invite your sister or hers to come and stay with you guys until she gives birth. If you're living in a decking, tell her to climb the stairs gently.

Finally pray... Children are a gift from God, so tell God to stop the devil from stealing your gift.
