Ha! This is an easy question mate. Everybody in each state is the governor's political 'subject'. As for the Oba the governor would have to go through the assembly. Even the Oba of Benin can be removed by the governor. As for me, the Oba of Benin is the strongest Oba in Nigeria, but even he can be dealt with if he messes up and dabbles into politics.

But Benin Obas respect themselves and carry themselves with so much dignity and the governors truly respect them.

The Last military adminstrator who tried to dethrone the Oba, go and ask his family how far, because he can't tell you how far...

He lost his son, then his wife, even after sending emiseries to beg, he stil lost his life, all in mysterious circumstances..., unfortunately.

Yes, the Oba respects himself, because he knows no political leader will stay more than 8-years but his throne is for life. And again, while the Oba of Benin is quite different from other monarch in Nigeria is the unconditional respect the throne commands.

I doubt any governor would have been able to dispose the Oba of Benin easily as was done to Sanusi.

The whole city would have been totally ungovernorable and no goverment succeeds without the smiles of the people.

Just ask your Oba to mess up, he will be dethroned and nothing will happen.

Your Oba was bundled like a common thief by the colonizers and your juju didn’t do shit.

The way you lot believe in nonsense spirituality or juju is appalling.

FYI, Kings are now under the administration of Local Government and the people who made the laws have kings in their respective states. so a governor is even too far.

Traditional institutions are under the local government. They can be dethroned wotowoto by the governor using the relevant institutions of government. However they're respected because of tradition.

You talk too much...

The Oba was Colonized, but never gave up his throne like the other African kings..

Even in his absence, Chief Obaseki wanted to sit on the throne, but they never let him sit - that should tell you the reverence....

Until the slave masters left, the throne was not given to anyone, till the monarcy was restored.

Na that kind king and his people you wan use play?

I laugh you cheesy

Have you not asked yourself why Edos are feareless and the least people you can oppress in Nigeria?

It's the samething bro.. This is the first state Godfatherism was dismantled in politics...

There are some things you can't just imagine..even if you desire it to happen, no governor with overdose of kwele weed will attempt that madness.

It may be in the consitution, but it's implementation is another thing... No be najia you dey?

You no dey fear juju... if dem born you well, show benin make I carry you go places.. Na boxers you go use run go back where you come from...

Implementation? Sanusi is a good example of a first class king that was dethroned.

Nobody wey them no fit dethrone. The people who bundled your Oba, Wetin your juju do them..? You dey cap about problem wey enslavers cause, yet cannot justify any repercussions on those who carried it out.

You’re a mumu man if you really think those nonsense juju dey do anything.

Just respect tradition as it is, to give value to our way of life.

Adding any dirty juju or superstition say nothing dey happen, you just dey talk shiiit.

Oba of Benin be dethroned? How?? The Benin Oba and the enogies of Esan are born, not made! The worst case scenario is that their allowances and fees will be taken away and they will be suspended. No governor would even consider doing it. Except he does not want to live to enjoy his loots.

Since its inception, the Benin throne has always been held by a single bloodline; not even the King's forced abdication of the kingdom could cause it to veer off course. By refraining from roforofo political battles in light of their meager gains, the Oba of Binis maintains their own dignity.

I don’t argue based on emotions. Nobody gives a F about anybody’s emotion. I’m sure a lot more people said same with Sanusi.

Again, all Nigeria kings are under the control of local govt administration, if anyone misbehave, he will be dethroned. heaven will not fall.
