WETIN DIS MOU GOVERNOR DEY DO SEF (2) OSSIOMO POWER PLANT: GOV OBASEKI LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR POWERING THE EDO ECONOMY TOWARDS PROSPERITY (2a) 1. THE IDEA, THE INPUT: The role of steady power supply in promoting businesses, driving industrialization and productivity can’t be overemphasized. One of the major clog in the wheel of business growth, particularly Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is interrupted power supply. Over the years, Nigeria has been grappling with the challenges of unstable power supply. To change the narrative of poor power supply as one of the ways to create enabling environment for businesses to thrive, Governor Godwin Obaseki entered a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 55MW with Ossiomo Power and CCETC Clean Energy to boost electricity market in the state. 2. THE OUTPUT, THE SOCIOECONOMIC IMPACTS: From drastically reducing the cost of powering government's Infrastructures– thereby freeing more funds for other critical areas–through powering Edo Production Centre to enhance the productivity of artisans therein, to powering the Light-Up-Edo Project that encourages safe & economic night life in Benin City, it is a bumper harvest of success stories. 3.
