One of his thread that got me was the one where he travelled to the North with rebuilt engine.... Even my mum was interested in the story and how it ended.

Never experienced brake failure in my cars but I have experienced it on my powerbike. I was doing 140km/hr whole traveling to Akure from Ondo. Suddenly a bus was coming directly at me cos the driver had just overtaken a trailer in a tight face me, I face you road... I saw him late so I slammed on my back brake to slow down before supporting with my hand brake. At that speed, if I use my hand brake first, I'll lose control and if I only use back brake, it won't be enough to slow me down so I can maneuver so I slammed on my back brake. It worked but when it's time to support it with my hand brake. Na so my hand brake they make noise and front tire started shaking heavily. I lost my hand brake. I had to run off the road at about 100km/hr. I still don't know how I manage to hold on to the bike and didn't fall. I was literally shaking by the time it ass over. I parked and checked the front brake. Low and behold, grass as tangled on the brake disc so it prevented the brake from catching. Las Las, na God save me.

Nasty stuff to experience.

Happened to me in 2009, I and my mum where driving a 99 forerunner and just descended that marina bridge and facing that BRT demarcation when a car suddenly slamed his brakes in my front.

Tried the brakes which failed, thankfully I was calm and quickly swerved into the BRT lane.

When the jeep finally stopped, my legs couldn't stop shaking ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Also reoccurred in my 2008 forerunner, in which ontop speed a car came off a side road without looking and had to make a split second decision to enter the other lane to avoid a fatal collision.

Always advisable to slow down in populated areas as people are bound to make mistakes such as crossing without looking properly or slamming their brakes unnecessarily.

We thank God.

Yes. About 10 years ago. While driving from Lagos to Abeokuta. Luckily the stretch of the road was free and I was able to maneuver to the side before I engaged the hand brake and let the car finally come to a stop.

Happened with Peaugeot 504 back then in Kano.
I say make I manage the car to mechanic from home. On the way, one ajayi worker on bicycle just crossed the road anyhow. In order not to hit the aboki, I swerved off the road into an iron pillar of a gate damaging the bumper and one headlight.

If you never experienced brake failure on 504 before, your own na special model๐Ÿ˜‚

I got a job to transport some surgical equipment from lagos to Abuja . As usual , I left lagos past @ night . Got to Abj quite early as I ws heading to Utako , just by city gate FCT , with the usual early morning traffic , I applied breaks, e no catch o , pumped the break pedals like it was an Olympic final game , still zero friction , thank God I was @ the last lane as there was an E-class in my front ,I left my lane & faced concrete slab used for road diversion to staduim & slammed into it . Lots of damages , thanks to FRSC on stationed there .

Have you experienced brrakfailure while driving or in a vehicle/ bike .
Kindly share your experience..

Sure, with thanks to God on the two occasions.

First it was at Ore. I left Lagos at about 2pm, enroute to the east, some years ago. It was raining heavily beginning from Ijebu Ode and I was driving with plenty of care. I just purchased that Honda car and at Ijebu Ode I found that the fear oil was low. I waited, changed it and proceeded. At Ore, there was a truck ahead and I stepped on the break. The brake failed, car skidded a little and stopped.

Next in Lagos, was my Mercedes. I drove into a filling station to purchase fuel. I stepped on the brake and it was completely flat. I screamed and the attendants all held on the car to stop it from moving. I purchased the petrol and moved the car to a corner. I got a mechanic who fixed the brake. The next day, straight to a car stand and sold the car.

Thank God no more car brake issues for since the last incident.

Arghhhh
Brings back old memories.
Two times while working for one unfortunate company as a salesman in Abuja/Suleja axis.
First time, old Toyota hummer bus , fully loaded with boxes of company product. Was descending on road around madalla market in Suleja, Omo at the bottom of that road was the chicken market.

Naso I press break he no answer, I looked downwards, I saw plenty people in less than 70 meters away.
Casualty go plenty.
I first drove sideways to hit the curbs on the downward slope to slow it down, it didnโ€™t work.
I saw a police hut for traffic warden in front , nobody inside, I faced it and smacked into it , the car slow down .

I begin shout from side window , Abeg throw stone, throw stick under the tyre. Luckily , somebody threw a long stick , another threw a couple of building blocks.
Finally , it stopped on the main road.

Those Suleja abokis for kill person that day and burn the bus if to say I jam person.

Sharperly, I sent email to head office, buy me a new bus or I quit.

Second one.
The same kabuka bus.
Fully loaded with 250 boxes of company product.
On kubwa expressway, heading to Karu.
Suddenly, I heard a loud noise.
Wetin happen , match this thing, e no answer me.
Looked side mirror, I saw that back propeller has left the bus ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.
Bus wasnโ€™t balance again .
I just swerve enter into those concrete ditches that divide the lanes.
Hit my chest for steering.

Chaiiii
That bus suffer me Ehn
But the experience on that job is useful to me now.

It was a terrible experience, it happened to me in 2019 while on the Karu -AYA road in Abuja. At around kugbo, some pedestrians trying to cross the road and l was not aware that other vehicles before me will stop for them, they stopped and matched the brake but it was flat. I hit the corolla car before me and my bonet was badly damaged. The corolla driver came out and checked his bumper and it wasn't damaged. It was so embarrassing and annoying.

If your disk assembly is shaking or not well tightened to the arms of your car steering then your Brake will fail after going through a bad patch of road or speed bump. My Benz has brake oil pressure warning light besides it also has an oil pressure sensor but the above was the cause of my near death experience in a Toyota Corolla. I briefly stopped to check my tyre pressure on a trip from Ondo state via Ife to Ibadan , after moving few meters from the vulcanize accelerating gradually above 60km/h to continue my regular 140km/h speed, I pressed the brakes for no reason and it went flat . Luckily no car in my front but how do I stop an automatic car at that speed?; I tried to put the car in park but it did not enter , I tried to put it in D2 but still no luck. My wife was already shouting Jesus and all manner of things while bracing for impact. Last last a thought occured to me to pull the hand brake. The car stopped . Don't ask me where is your Benz because I will tell you it's at the mechanic and they are telling me a story of half a million after spending half a million already.
buygala:
I can't speak for all vehicles tho.. But the ones I have owned and driven all have a brake fault warning light.

That warning light illuminates when a brake light bulb dies, a brake switch becomes faulty, there is a faulty handbrake or handbrake is in engaged position, if the brake fluid guage sensor becomes faulty, or if Brake fluid drains below minimum threshold..for some vehicles sef, a faulty ABS system will also trigger the brake light.

The major cause of sudden vehicle brake failure in motion is a torn and leaking brake hose.. And the brake system hardly ever looses all pressure at once.. The brake pedal will keep getting flatter until all the brake oil drains out.. And the brake light will have illuminated long long before all the brake oil drains out..

You as driver wey no notice brake light wey on or ignore am, and also didn't notice that your brakes were getting flatter, na you dey find wetin go kill you.

I was one fateful evening. The break failed when I was approaching a T junction. I was lucky there was no one coming.

Yes,with 2007 Hilux.
Was even on speed sef and was approaching a checkpoint at night.
I was about to slow down when I found out I has no brakes left!It was a manual soil took my foot of the gas and started downshifting but there wasn't so much road left to where they blocked the road,so I had to ram it.
All popo run sha grin
