Edo 2024:Anxiety Grips The APC And PDP As Dorry Okojie Allegedly Runs For Governor Under The LP.

At times we frequently ask if Edo electorates are the most sophisticated and enlightened, Edo elections have proved to be the most widely covered news story. 

For example, the general elections have just ended, with even litigations rising upadan, and yet Edo 2024, which is still over a year away, has taken control of the headlines, despite elections in Bayelsa and Kogi being only a few months away.

But such discussion should wait for another day. According to verified sources in Edo State, just as the presidential election was a three-horse race between the APC, PDP, and LP, the Edo 2024 governorship election would most likely be between the same parties.

This permutation has gained substantial acceptance thanks to the purported entry into the race of none other than the young, intelligent, and quintessential Dr. Dorry Afe Efosa Okojie, who hails from Esan Land, on the platform of the Labour Party.

There is no doubt that this most recent incident has the ability to whip up both the APC and the PDP into a frenzy given the young Dorry Okojie's significant past as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and grassroots leader that spans a little over 20 years.

Dorry began his education at Emotan Nursery School, then moved on to Emotan Primary School, and finally to Greater Tomorrow Secondary School, where he earned his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the esteemed Plymouth University in the United Kingdom. From the equally distinguished University of Nottingham, also in the United Kingdom, he earned his master's degree in public administration.

The Dr. Dorry Okojie Foundation is his creation. Also, he is the Esan Development and Transformation Initiative's vice chairman and co-founder (EDATI).

In order to help the Edo State Government address concerns of insecurity in Esan Land, he founded the Esan Solidarity Association Network (ESAN), also known as Atanakpa Esan.

He is a Director on the Board of Directors of Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank (Former G.T Homes). He is a key participant in Nigeria's Real Estate, Construction, and Project Management industries.

A recipient of numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate in business administration from Wellspring University in Edo State and an honorary doctorate in business administration from Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma.

He has also received various outstanding accolades, including the Edo private sector award 2017 from the Benin National Congress (BNC) alongside Chief John Odigie Oyegun, as well as the Niger Delta private sector personality award 2018 from Gbaramatu Voice magazine.

Just recently he was a beneficiary of a recognition award by the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) for his outstanding contributions to housing developments.

His unselfish dedication to his Esan people has garnered him several recognitions from Esan Land's top traditional rulers, including the Onojie Of Irrua and Okaijesan of Esan Land, The Onojie Of Uromi, the Onojie Of Ewu, the Onojie of Ujogba to name a few.

Strangely enough, with the loud screams of the Esan Agenda and the awareness that the LP has a solid base in Edo South, Dorry stands a tremendous chance. A good combination is sure to upset the political world.
