Just like the Biblical story of King Saul and David, it appears like what is playing out in Nigeria looks exactly same.

King Saul and his team were in charge of the affairs of the kingdom of Israel when David was anointed to be king to take over the seat of government. David`s followers were made up of ordinary men and women who were frustrated of the government failure at that time. You can call them the social media youths, the Obidients of our time. King Saul sensing that David was anointed to take over the affairs of the Kingdom of Israel became extremely furious. King Saul and the government hated David and saw him as their only threat to establish the reign .

King Saul became very angry and jealous over David`s success and popularity hence sought to destroy him by all means possible. He and his team abandoned governance, rolled out all kinds of propaganda and traps to catch him on one occasion to get him executed, all efforts failed.

In all, David treated King Saul and his men with kindness and respect. He avoided throwing back dirt and using unkind words to the king. Even when he had the opportunity to kill the king and proclaim himself king. David simply declined to harm the king and even called him a senior brother and a father.

Just like David`s followers urged him, the Obidients want Obi to fight back and reclaim his mandate. And they are willing to fight along with him. Again, just like David, Obi doesn’t believe in grabbing power by force but want it acquired legitimately.

As the next chapter unfolds, I am looking forward to seeing the new King David crowned, and the land will return to its glorious days. It is well with Nigeria!
