Things had reached a crossroads. Time was of the essence. I managed to breathe out, "This is it--such pain--can I sing my special song, the HU?"

One of the doctors said, "Lady, please! Do anything you can! I don't care what it is--we need all the help we can get here."

I started to sing HU with my husband as loud as I could, as several doctors and nurses continued their work.

The next thing I knew, the baby was born. All during my pregnancy, I had asked Divine Spirit if I could witness Soul, my baby, enter Its physical body.

And at the moment when they held the tiny body of my little boy up, a blinding light rushed through the room.

It cut a swath in the shape of a huge, neon-blue Z. (A blue light is often a sign of the guidance and protection of the Mahanta, who is known inwardly by the name Z.)

Then the light landed in the baby's body--and he cried out with life. The nurses looked stunned as they wrapped him up.

When I was handed my son, I realized he appeared just as he had in my dream with my sister, all swaddled up.

I looked into his face. He smiled, and a moment of profound peace came over me.

Then the doctors and nurses gathered around and told me he was a very special and lucky baby. "Whatever that HU business was that you were doing, it was really something," one said.

"Why do you say that?" I inquired. "Well," he admitted, "I don't know if you all saw it, but the light in the OR turned blue!"

"Did you see that too?" another one exclaimed. The next day they each came to my room individually, to ask more about the HU. My Chinese anesthesiologist kept saying, "Do the HU for me.

This HU--it helped you, it saved the baby, and it saved me too! This is the thing to do!"

Most of the nurses just accepted the amazing blue light as a sort of special sign. But it bothered a couple of the doctors.

They asked around to see if the power had gone off, causing the generators to kick in. But nothing unusual had happened with the electrical system of the hospital that day.

A few of my medical attendants even asked shyly if they could visit the Eckankar center. They also posed funny questions like, "Did you have any connections with anything electrical before you came into the OR?"

I just smiled, as they recounted the story of the day the operating room turned blue.

Only when I returned home did it dawn on me. My baby was born on the very day that I lost my sister--a year later to the day.

She proved to me that death is just another step in the circle of Soul's existence.
