Road Projects: Kwara PDP Group Warns BUA To Beware Of Gov AA's, Saboteurs

.....Reminds BUA Group Of 'Abandoned' N2.5bn Oncology And Diagnostic Centre

A political group under the Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned BUA Group to be wary of the Kwara State Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq and his cohorts who "would definitely try to sabotage the newly awarded road projects" in the state.

The group, under the aegis of ABS Youth Vanguard made this known in a statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Ambassador Ganiy Lukman Ola, on Friday.

Recall that Federal Government has given the go-ahead to BUA Group, one of the most prominent infrastructure conglomerates in Africa, to build four major roads in Nigeria worth N330 billion under the Federal Government Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (Executive Order 7).

The major roads to be constructed at about N330billion under this new approval are Kosubosu-Kaiama-Bode Saadu highway (130km); Bacita-Shonga-Lafiagi highway (83km); Eyenkorin-Afon-Offa-Odo Ottin highway (49km); and Okuta-Bukuro Road which connects to Benin Republic (32km).

ABS Youth Vanguard responded by praising BUA Group for the development and instructing the organization to be wary of the state government's schemes to sabotage the project.

The statement partly reads: "A serious investigation into the financial activities of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration is already necessary to start the anti-corruption war.

"The ongoing administration in Kwara is as of now wasting the state's depository. Kwara is already neck-deep in debt as a result of the careless way the money was handled over the past four years. Public records regarding how state allocations from the federation account have been used are not available to the public.

"Kwara APC is in charge of a government with no accountability or transparency.

“We as a party are pleading with BUA Group to exclude Abdulrazaq and his associates from the projects now that the new roads projects are complete. There should be no flaws in these projects because they are too important to Kwarans.

Mr. Lukman Ola also reminded the BUA Group of the N2.5bn oncology and diagnostic centre — largest in West Africa — donated to the Kwara state by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) which is yet to commence operations.

"This oncology and diagnostic centre commenced in July, 2021 and supposed to be completed in July, 2022 as business mogul Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) promised. This is April, 2023 and the project is not yet done," the statement concluded.
